Last night, the head of CBS Jacksonville called me. He informed me that the July 15 debate is officially canceled because, in his words, “Jay Collins refused to commit.”

Why would Jay Collins, a candidate polling in the single digits, refuse a full hour of free television? Hundreds of thousands of viewers. Free exposure. Every candidate’s dream.

Why would he turn that down?

Because @JayCollinsFL already got what he wanted.

He made a deal with @ByronDonalds and was promised the Lt. Governor position if he stayed in the race as a plant.

They know that Byron easily loses in a head-to-head with me, but Byron's odds go up if a third candidate like Jay can steal votes and help Byron win.

They are rigging the election, but it won't work.

We have 3x as many in-person events than Byron between now and Election Day.

Some thoughts on the Nazi “Yellow Star” program.

Number one, why is it offensive? If you are a Jew, would wearing a star to symbol your Jewishness not be a source of pride?

Let’s imagine all the White people in America had to wear a White Star to symbolize that they were European… I would wear mine with pride.

The reason you are the way that you are and the reason you say the things you do (assuming you’re not a bad faith actor operating on low level political subterfuge), is because you’re a naive retard who is in no way native to the Internet.

Your life is so unremarkable and so insignificant that you’ve never even fathomed of the possibility that anything you say or do online could ever gain attention or care from anyone to the degree that those people spend time and effort in causing harm to you.

They developed a culture around their online form of existence and gathered in places to exchange new ideas, ideas which could be expressed with minimal fear of consequence.

This would be ruined when the Web 2.0 era began and the world wide web would begin to trade its myriad of cool and unique websites for a select handful of major content aggregates that doubled as social media platforms. Facebook was the great Satan which really started pushing a wider trend of associating your online identity with your real face and name.

The increase in accessibility provided by the emergence of smart phones sealed the fate of organic online culture, permanently shifting it towards an Overton Window centered around the sensibilities of unfamiliar normies who wouldn't understand or respect the environment they were entering (like you!).

WHY DO YOU NEED TO BE ANONYMOUS?

Anonymity protects you from having your ideas being shut down by people who are incapable of engaging rhetorically with you.

When someone is too weak or stupid to argue against something they don't like, they seek out alternative methods to censor you. They don't have any moral compunctions about the harm they could cause you in real life and they likely hate you enough to want you to be hurt or killed, or at the very least rob you of your livelihood.

i use this as a premise and joke about it pretty often, but the orientation ancient stuff had towards why things have the properties they do was completely inverted from how we presently see it.

for most of human history, take metal for example, iron had the properties it has (hardness, malleability, and so on) because it was iron. its essence was “iron-ness”, and what you observed about it flowed backwards from this mysterious quintessential aspect. this also applies to the larger categories its in, like “metals”.

everything was like this. why is water usually cold? why does water tend towards coldness? it just does: that is a property of water. things that have this essence of “water-ness” just do that.

you can basically model the project of us “becoming modern” as: people going through every field and smashing these concepts, because they saw them as outdated, magical, or nonsensical - and then building it back up the other way.

example: why is iron hard? it has nothing to do with this magical made up concept of “iron-ness” or “metal-ness” that exists out there somewhere as a metaphysical ideal. that’s just made up. a metal is hard because of the way the molecules are arranged. if its malleable, thats because it is actually made up of these other things, which are bound together in this way - then, if you understand how heat affects those bonds and component parts, you could obviously see why it’s malleable.

it doesnt possess malleability because its a metal, it possess malleability for purely logical material reasons that we can deduce.

there’s no magical category called “metals” that you need to understand and use to deduce the properties of metals and explain why metals are the way they are. you can just look at the component parts, and apply what you know about the world, and you’ll explain to yourself why the metals have the properties they do.

this sounds completely insane and perhaps needlessly pedantic, but it’s actually a completely different way of viewing the world - and in my opinion, this shift took place successfully in every even remotely scientific field - except one.

the reason this is extremely relevant for our time - this exact specific time you presently inhabit, is that this never happened for consciousness and the mind.

consciousness was never taken out of the top down semi-magical tautological “it is consciousness, therefore it has these properties” shelf and put on to the “we can explain this by analyzing its component parts and using what we know about the world” shelf.

the mind still stands alone as the last true vestige of a previous, much older, way of seeing the world that this new view has been totally unable to colonize. and because it’s the last real holdout, we allow people to pretend it stands alone for other reasons: sentimentality, religion, self-aggrandizement, whatever. or, we let people pretend the project i’ve described above was completed.
