Travelled from BBI to LHR via DEL by @airindia Luggage checked & cleared at BBI, smooth security at DEL. At T3 Gate 26, staff claimed my handbag exceeded by 2 kg (an additional laptop, a diary, some snacks including duty-free items. It was never flagged earlier in d journey

15+ years of travel—never experienced this. Why wasn’t this flagged at check-in if handbag is exceeded by even 500 gm? This is mental harassment—targeting passengers at the last point to extract money. @airindia @AAI_Official @DelhiAirportGMR @RamMNK

3 fellow passengers tried to help, they were warned by staff that they might face custom issue, an unnecessary intimidation tactic. Under pressure, I was forced to pay ₹7150 else had to bin d items. Another passenger was made to wear multiple layers to avoid charges

Shabana Mahmood turned down proposals from Foreign Office to maintain carve-out for Chevening scholars, a government-funded programme for “exceptional individuals” to study for a master’s degree at a UK university.
