This here is the crux of the Indian senior military leadership's thought process.

China spends 3.7x of India on defense. India spends 8x of Pakistan.

Capex on defense - China is 5x but here, India is 9.8x.

But now compare this to equipment,

Fighters - 3.5:1 China India vs 1.8:1 India Pakistan

Though we spend 10x the Pakistanis on capex we barely hold an edge over Pakistan conventionally. The Chinese spend 5x more but have a vastly superior fleet.

Awacs - 10:1 China India vs 1.16 : 1.

Every procurement general, marshal whoever and the defence minister must ideally be tried for sedition here! We have exact parity with the Pakistanis here.

Even the avg infantry trooper. The Indian and Pakistani soldiers are still equipped in 1960's era kit. The Chinese infantry soldier is pretty much cutting edge.

So I ask these generals, where is all that money going?
