@IlmariMttnen ...paitsi jos on peto. Mitä ihmiset osittain ovat.
Josko annettaisiin eläinsuojelun toimia, josko eläintehotalouden tuet ajettaisiin nollaan, ja siitä eteenpäin annettaisiin "lihan" hinnan määrätä.
@neiltyson, they always accuse us STEM types of spewing inconsequential trivia.
I believe those tidbits should properly be called quadrivia. After all, science and music comprise the upper four echelons of the Seven Liberal Arts.
Anno -22, totta kai, edelleen...
@treffer_@lhcstatus2 The funniest thing here is that the design papers rely on temperature compensated crystal oscillators. Fine, but the gold standard even there would be the oven controlled ones. Nowhere to be seen. Evenwhile atomic clocks already *were* mentioned in the next paragraph. Wut?
@treffer_@lhcstatus2 I just read about how it's done internally. How it's UTC-synchronized for the injector chain and the LHC, but separately, and how there are multiple PLL's between to keep precise linear time.
That's one fine architecture. :D
@treffer_@lhcstatus2@lhcstatus Somebody really ought to have the structured dataflows delivered to them for transliteration. Because they *are* there. The LHC and all of the experiments, separately, pride themselves on the fact. There shouldn't be any need for OCR, anywhere. Just JSON or WTF. They do Python!!!
@treffer_@lhcstatus2 Looking at Vistar(s), saw a self-evident fault. They in dumped the beam in the middle of a ramp. They had to actually go into the vault for access to a BETS TCDQ fault.
I sincerely hope they wore radiation suits. TCDQ ain't the nicest part of the collimator or dump system.
@ajatustenvirta@pbyrokraatti "En ole gynekologi, mutta voin vilkaista."
Repesin aikanaan kun oli pervobileissä frendin t-paidassa. *Niin* summaa aiheen, eikä väitä turhia. :D
@POTUS, first, it's the *James* (Edwin) Webb Space Telescope. Not in honor of just the director of NASA, but the Undersecretary of State.
Secondly, by releasing the picture beforehand, you just usurped the independent powers of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
@treffer_@lhcstatus2@lhcstatus One of my friends just asked me when the first images from the James Webb Space Telescope are going to be out.
I just had to make it right: referenced to my home town, the Finnish capitol, it's 2022-07-12T14:30:00+03:00 .
OCR ought not to be required.
@CERN Pray tell, while you're scrubbing the LHC rings, the intensity seems to go down concavely, whereas naïvely you'd expect a convex exponential extinction profile. What's up with that? Does the scrubbing beam rake up muck as it goes, or something?
