Asian Culture Club had our last meeting of the year today, 105 students showed up, we passed the leadership from our founding seniors to the juniors. We ate crab rangoon and looked back at all the wonderful things we've learned so far!

Today students learned about China during the Early Modern Era, we learned about Jesuit monks learning to write Chinese in an attempt to convert the Chinese so we practiced writing Chinese characters on rice paper with bamboo brushes while listening to traditional Chinese music
Honors World Hist students went to the Spencer Research library at KU today. 1) 3,000 year old Egyptian papyrus. 2) 4,000 yr old Mespotamian cuneiform tablets. 3) 1751 map drawn by Peter Jefferson (Thomas Jefferson's dad). 4) Lunch at Kansas Union. @STAsaints
Honors World History students took their AP test on Monday so today we turned off our screens, checked out books from the library and went outside to read and enjoy the beautiful day! @STAsaints
STA Model UN participated in the Metro Model UN Conference today, it was virtual due to Covid. Everyone enjoyed the conference. Thomas Kluck won outstanding delegation for Uruguay and Brandon Haynes won outstanding delegation honorable mention for Belgium. @STAsaints
The football field saw some lively competition this afternoon when Mrs. Ingram's 6th hour took on Mrs. DeNegri's 6th hour in a spirited game of kickball. We were all winners in celebrating this beautiful day outdoors - but ok fine, Mrs. DeNegri's team won the game!
67 students showed up to our Asian Culture Club again today. Kaylien D talked about Vietnamese culture and how her family had to flee Vietnam and Nate T's dad made delicious dumplings. All attendees received red envelopes in celebration of Lunar New Year! @STAsaints

We studied Matteo Ricci-a Jesuit Missionary-who tried to spread Catholicism to China in the 17th century by learning about China, including their language. We learned some Chinese writing today too with bamboo brushes and rice paper while listening to traditional Chinese music.
