Not nearly enough people are talking about this?!?!
Terrorism judgment holders just sued the crypto mixer Railgun for allegedly laundering North Korean hacker proceeds… and Railgun ignored the case and is now in default.
Filed January 21, 2026 in D.D.C. (Kim et al. v. Railgun DAO, 1:26-cv-00179).
The plaintiffs are families holding roughly $865M in judgments against North Korea for the 2000 abduction, torture, and murder of U.S. permanent resident pastor Dong Shik Kim, and for North Korea’s material support of Hezbollah’s 2006 rocket attacks on Israeli civilians.
They argue Railgun (which they say is a general partnership, not a true DAO) operated as an illegal money transmitter and laundered DPRK/Lazarus Group funds (including $60M+ from the Harmony Bridge hack in January 2023 and proceeds from the 2025 Bybit heist).
Per the complaint (citing Elliptic), North Korean activity made up ~70% of Railgun’s volume as of mid-2024.
They say Railgun had the duty and ability to freeze the assets under sanctions and money-transmission laws so the plaintiffs could seize them to collect on their judgments. Instead it processed the transfers and collected fees.
Claims include RICO, unlicensed money transmission (18 U.S.C. § 1960), money laundering, and negligence. Court authorized alternative service (email, X, certified mail to founders).
No response from Railgun.
Clerk’s entry of default entered April 2026; motion for default judgment is pending. (Digital Currency Group later moved to quash service, claiming it was improperly treated as a partner.)
Please inquire as to how “an alternative economic system to circumvent banking sanctions”is working for the regime in Iran.
📰🚨 Prime Minister Netanyahu to Channel 10, on preparations for a potential international economic boycott and sanctions against Israel:
“We need to prepare an alternative economic system to circumvent banking sanctions. Blockchain is an alternative, and I have asked for plans to be drawn up for this.”
I don’t currently know which politician this was, but I don’t make the rules:
It’s all of our duty to share this young man’s rabbit art, after the authoritarian response he received! 🐇 🐰
Lex Fridman interviews a PHP security researcher
Lex: My guest today discovered a critical vulnerability in PHP. What is a vulnerability.
Researcher: A weakness that allows an attacker to compromise a system.
Lex: But aren't we all vulnerable.
Researcher: Yes, but
Lex: Is love a vulnerability.
Researcher: We're talking about remote code execution.
Lex: Could an attacker remotely execute love.
Researcher: No.
Lex: Stalin executed millions.
Researcher: What does that have to do with
Lex: Do you think Stalin was happy.
Researcher: I have absolutely no idea.
Lex: Fascinating. We're 3 hours in. Let's talk about consciousness.
@aryehazan yeah. and they were telling me those immigrants were lazy welfare leeches. but here we are. a strong woman who had a dream and worked really hard to achieve it!
Agree with your assessment of Jerusalem, of course. Who cares about storefronts — it’s a tiny part of GDP, and when tourism is low and delivery is becoming more and more important — that’s what one would expect.
Her argument about the labor market is also weird — sectoral boom does not imply a boom in hiring — now it is more and more capital intensive, than labor-intensive. We’re not living in 1920s factories setup when: new factories -> new jobs.
“Pointless construction projects” is a funny statement. Housing market immediately consumes any new supply, country lacks infrastructure, so all the construction is anything but “pointless”.
A weird post.
@idangolf@netanyahu Bottles of Champagne? Qatari money? Smotrich’s English-Hebrew dictionary? Lists of haredi draft dodgers his government will never arrest?
Who knows, he has a lot of baggage.
