@magi_jay But that conversation is poluted by extremists who either want to act like all the unhoused are just criminals and those who push pack and pretend there are no issues whatsover and we should not have any laws.
@magi_jay This is not all of the problem but I think part of it is, our inabllity to have a real conversation about this. It is totally reasonable to say, there are public saftey concerns that come with the amount of and density of unhoused people in LA (most of all to the unhoused)
@aherman2006 Very poorly. turns out Harris couldn't convince people she would be tough on border issues after being far more progressive in 2020 and. A big mistake.
@aherman2006 then why li?. I can find plenty of harris statements far more progressive than racist great replacement theroy El*n. there are plenty of real criticisms of the democratic party, so why go with obvious lie over one of those. that's the part I don't understand.
@aherman2006 psyop? no someone who is more interested in gaining clout by hating dems than helping actual people more likely. It just seems weird to me how often people on the "left" say things that are just obviously untrue. like take your internet points, I guess
@michaeldomps@criticalurban@patmorgan235@MarcusBibulus Actual Yimby: build in all places, more housing is good, and a few select spots that are building housing is not enough. The thing you don't seem to get is we are not being selective, we want to be able to build everywhere.
@michaeldomps@Jube02@MarcusBibulus@criticalurban I have found that when people argue this hard against the contruction of new housing deep down what they care about is either protecting their own property values, or they simply hate developers so much they would rather people die on the street than let them make money
@michaeldomps @soup_beater @MarcusBibulus@criticalurban no one is saying it's only in san Francisco. we using SF as an example of a place we you are not allowed to build more housing. and you can't even if you can build in some others places, if you can't build where rhe housing is most needed it won't solve the problem.
@michaeldomps@MarcusBibulus@criticalurban Gotta love arguing with conservatives. They learned they can just make things up and no one will care. Look at any city in CA we do not allow the building of any housing, not even close
@michaeldomps@MarcusBibulus@criticalurban Also, "as long as it fits in zoning requirments" is doing a lot of legwork here, as zoning is really comon tool used to stop the building of housing.
@michaeldomps@MarcusBibulus@criticalurban You see there are no counter points to facts. We do not allow people to build housing in most major cities. This is not up for debate. The only way it is going to change is if we change the rules to allow people to build.
