These final few weeks with my dad have been precious beyond words. At the end of every visit, he asked me to pray for him. Which of course I did. On my knees beside the big leather chair he was confined to for the past several months.
But as I was leaving his house this past Saturday night, he asked if he could pray for me. As if he knew.
Then, as was his habit, he said, “I couldn’t be prouder of you Andy.”
The source of a word determines its weight. Those were wonderfully weighty words. And his final words to me.
I’ll miss him every day until I see him again.
#OnThisDay in 1949 my father @BillyGraham began his historic Los Angeles Crusade where he spoke to more than 350,000 people over the course of eight weeks. Watch this short clip from part of his message to those in attendance...
How I learned to be a better boss:
I was a bad CEO. 7 years ago, I found a McDonald's training handbook on the desk of an employee named Rosita. Turns out she was training to become a manager there because she couldn't survive on the income I paid here. I called her to my office
For those who need further clarity on why I dropped some of my commentary from the prayer book Praying God's Word. It won't be enough - won't make anyone happy - but it's where I landed on it. https://t.co/xKBrTJjvkq
Watching this 😡! I have a son who is about to be 17 and I’m cringing at every moment of this. We’ve seen kids we work with @epiphfellowship profiled a lot! @ava thank you! This is one of reasons why I wrote Woke Church! #amerikkka#whentheyseeus#centralparkfive#wokechurch
Be faithful in small things, Jesus reminds us, but we live in a culture of splash and big and shiny. Be patient. Be good when no one’s looking. Bless others quietly. This ministry of the unseen matters.
Right now is a good moment to go ahead and decide not to let people’s compliments go to your head or their criticisms go to your heart.
Because we don’t want to live our lives ruled by what other people think of us.
Be very careful how to you talk ABOUT yourself and TO yourself. Slow down enough to pay attention to the narrative taking place in your head. REMEMBER: Self-flagellation is not spirituality or humility. It's abuse.
