The emergency vehicle was evacuating wounded people. A 27-year-old anesthesiologist, Dmytro Kolesnyk, and a 56-year-old emergency medical technician, Oleh Zhuravlov, were killed. Paramedic Oleksandr Dudulad was injured.
The regional emergency medical center said the same crew had already come under a Russian drone attack on February 27. At that time, aerial reconnaissance pilots located the damaged vehicle and helped find the medics.
After that incident the team was reassigned to what was considered a safer area, said Viktor Zabashta, director of the Kharkiv Regional Emergency Medical Center.
“Even here, seemingly far from the front line, they were still struck,” he said.
