It’s #WorldBartenderDay, and the Beer Institute is raising a glass to the people behind the bar.
Meet Kevin "Cochese" Abely, a Washington, D.C. icon whose commitment to service has become legendary among political leaders, Capitol Hill staffers and regulars. For years, he’s been a steady presence at Bobby Van’s, near the White House and the Beer Institute’s office in downtown D.C.
Every day, Kevin does more than serve beer: he builds community. His warmth and presence have turned the bar at Bobby Van’s into a place where friends can connect, colleagues can catch up, and strangers can share the iconic moments that bind us together. Bartenders like Kevin help transform a simple beer into meaningful experiences that bring us all together.
Cheers to Kevin and all of our favorite beer-pouring bartenders everywhere. Thank you for giving us a place to gather, celebrate and connect.
Who’s your favorite beer bartender? We’d love to hear their story. Let us know in the replies!
