@HighwaysSWEST@2SevernBridges Close the bridge to HGVs, surely that means you can keep it open in “gusty” conditions. I don’t want to make light of the dangers of the weather on the exposed bridge, but the traffic today was a joke!
@HighwaysSWEST@2SevernBridges What sort of strain does all of those cars sat on the bridge have on the cables? Could we not be cleared off down the M48 instead?
@2SevernBridges It’s great that you want to give people regular updates on planned closures, but sending out a message saying there are “no planned closures” while the M48 is closed is a tad misleading
@Mav_Lox @2SevernBridges There will usually be one side left open during high winds, normally the side which is more exposed to the wind, so I’d expect it to be the south side open
@campbellbri@2SevernBridges They usually close the opposite footpath which is exposed to the wind (they’d rather you get blown into the road then off the side I guess). I’ve cycled across it many times in high winds, it’s an experience. Hold onto your contact lenses!
@ditslexicman@GlosRoads I wish more council in Gloucestershire would embrace a safer cycling infrastructure approach. I know too many people who are reluctant to replace car journeys with bicycle journeys because the roads in the Forest of Dean are far too dangerous
@2SevernBridges As wind speeds are predicted to fall later this afternoon, do you anticipate that the M48 bridge will be reopened in time for rush hour?
