@Wendy4SD My kiddo is there too. Was watching the live feed helicopter footage from local ABC. Watched them start to enter the home where suspect appeared to be in but then feed cut. Reports were saying it was likely a BB gun or air soft gun.

@Yaktuary @JeffreyASachs @ijbailey As a parent, absolutely I should be informed if a violent crime happened on school campus. I got and email two days ago when there was a lockdown because a suspicious person showed up on campus trying to enter school. Why wouldn’t I be notified about a rape at my child’s school?

@W_B_A_L @bethbourdon That’s a bummer. I’ve know mental health clinicians who work/ed in our city program. They’re employed by city/PD. The ones I know are quality clinicians. Most of our local MH inpatient facilities are decent as they’re affiliated with larger non profit hospitals.

@bethbourdon Interesting, it’s usually the cities that get on board first before the county sheriffs office. I’ve seen the program work effectively, but there are times when there aren’t enough teams to meet the need.

@bethbourdon Do they not have a PERT (psychiatric emergency response team) in your area? It’s a clinical psych professional along with police officer who respond to a MH call. I always had to specifically I wanted them specifically to respond (vs just regular officers).

@djlavoie Weren’t they hit really hard last summer with Covid cases and deaths. Maybe that motivated people to get the vaccine.

@AkilahObviously I would say in regards to jokes about those with a disability; Like any community it’s not a monolith. My husband is a WC user due to paralysis and feels comfortable about jokes about disability. Being off limits in his words makes him feel “othered” or viewed as too fragile.

Three police officers went to an *elementary* school in Tennessee & arrested four Black girls.

One girl fell to her knees. Another threw up. Police handcuffed the youngest, an 8 yo with pigtails.

@WonderKing82 Absolutely! Always been my policy with kids. I worked with victims is child abuse for several years. When we tell kids to hug people we’re teaching them not to trust themselves and their boundaries they choose to set for themselves.
