A POLITICO poll in France, Germany, and Spain found Ursula von der Leyen was both little known and little liked heading into the State of the Union speech she delivered earlier today in Strasbourg.

More than 1 in five French respondents said they did not know who she was. Only 12% in France said she was doing a good job. In Germany, 45% said she is doing a bad job, driven hard by AfD voters.

About 1 in 10 across the 3 countries planned to follow the speech closely.

The survey of 2,000-plus adults per country ran Sept. 13-15. It covers three large members, not the whole EU.
