Trade Deals: Canada Caves, Trump Wins
Canada’s digital services tax on tech giants triggered Trump’s wrath- no negotiations, just threats.
By Monday, Canada folded.
Tariff fears? Fading fast.
Markets shrugged; $NDX hit all-time highs. July 9 deadline’s flexible.
Markets are ahead, betting on resolutions.
Why worry about tariffs now, especially when Trump's all about growth & running this thing hot!
Stocks: Bulls Ignore the Noise
$NDX at record highs, fuelled by dip-buyers continually hitting the green button.
$PLTR 9.3% Friday drop was Russell 2000 rebalancing noise. ETFs sold to match the index, now it’s up 4.4% pre-market, back above the 20-day.
$GS, $BAC, $JPM $XLF soar post-stress tests, freed for lending & risk-taking with excess capital.
$CCL and $NKE rally - the start of something for the still unloved consumer sector?
$AMZN breaks consolidation, up 2.8%.
Positioning’s still not overweight; no euphoria yet.
Why short this momentum?
Oil: Oversupplied, Overhyped
War fears spiked it, but no supply hits.
OPEC’s planning an August output hike, per sources.
Market’s well-supplied; spare capacity kills upside.
FX: Dollar’s at a Crossroads
USD’s weak. EUR and GBP at multi-year highs.
Retail’s stuck long $USDCHF, fighting the trend at 90% positioning.
No options support below 0.80 per BNP, clear skies for franc strength.
Sentiment’s screaming dollar doom; hedge funds’ shorts are at two-year highs.
Section 899 removal could draw capital back, boosting USD.
Powell’s sticking to his guns, but dovish pressure’s building. Cut pricing is pretty extreme.
One more push lower in USD and then I think it turns.
Bonds: No Hiding Spot
Ten-year yields at 4.25% align with CPI plus 175 basis points, deficits and gov spending keep them there, per the bond king.
No recession in sight; bonds aren’t a safe haven.
$TLT unappealing with growth running hot.
AI and data centre demand could spike energy costs, adding inflation later. Stocks beat bonds for now.
Big Picture: Growth Trumps Fear
Trump’s pushing growth over austerity. Tax cuts and spending bills advance, despite Musk’s gripes.
Markets love it, ignoring tariff and housing wobbles.
John Authers’ note flags margin resilience; S&P’s earnings yield trails bonds, but flows chase stocks.
Consumer discretionary’s beaten down $CCL, $NKE could turn.
Jobs data (NFP, JOLTS, ADP) and ISM Services this week are key; Scotiabank’s 160k NFP estimate tops Goldman’s 85k.
Powell’s Sintra talk could sway dovish bets: 90% chance of a September cut.
Positioning’s not euphoric; $VIX is low.
Ride the trend, dodge the noise.

Something that BLOWS MY MIND on, basically, a daily basis - is the ease of access we have to information.
First of all.
Do you fuckers understand that mass literacy wasn’t a thing until VERY RECENTLY?
The fact that everyone can read now is FUCKING INSANE, and is a product of the enlightenment era.
Mass literacy only became a thing in the LATE 18th century for Western Europe. 20th century for USA.
Prior to that, slaves were FORBIDDEN from being taught to read. It was a luxury afforded ONLY to the priestly, scholastic, and noble classes.
That’s one thing in and of itself.
Now about accessing the stuff.
One of (if not) THE greatest Christian Mystic of all time was Meister Eckhart. He lived in 13th century Germany and wrote various works on the soul’s divine union with God, detachment, and the nature of being.
I want you to picture something real quick.
Let’s say you heard about Meister Eckhart and are interested in hearing what he had to say…
How do you get your hands on his works?
Can you imagine what that process looks like if you’re a 14th century Englishmen?
How about a 16th century Italian?
Or an 18th century subsaharan?
Forget about it.
Literally next to impossible.
Never mind your inability to read because you weren’t born of noble lineage. Imagine JUST getting your hands on the books????
You would have literally ZERO chance of doing this.
Unless by some ABSOLUTE miracle.
Because you’ve got to understand — works like that, that carry what the established church might consider “alternative” was utterly forbidden and considered heresy.
So it’s not even just a matter of translation.
It’s also a matter of keeping it in relative secrecy.
But even so, imagine it’s translated and it’s allowed to be published … GOOD LUCK having it show up in whatever kind of libraries they had back then.

In conversation and presentation:
One of the FASTEST ways to LOSE ALL INTEREST from your audience… is to speak about something they are ALREADY familiar with, in a tone that assumes it’s brand new to them.
BEFORE YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH,
You must gauge or AT LEAST roughly estimate the level of knowledge your listeners are coming in with.
Practical, everyday illustration of this:
I’ve had people visit the city that I’ve lived in for years, who had only been there 2 weeks, try to lay game on me about what’s what and how the city works. Giving me recommendations, etc.
In a smug tone that sounds like “I’m doing you the favour by educating you here. You’re welcome.”
In my mind, I instantly marked this person down as having feeble (at best) social and contextual awareness.
Another example of this, was I when I attended an esoteric lecture with my mentor. The talk was on sacred sites, and at the beginning of the presentation the speaker began to talk about the Platonic solids.
Absolute kindergarten stuff, whose inclusion in the lecture suggested that the speaker put ZERO effort into understanding WHO they were talking to.
My mentor just walked straight out LMFAO.
When you do this to someone - you alienate them severely - because you’re not seeing them. So why should they even bother listening? They’re just yapping AT YOU and not TO YOU.
When you do this to someone - you instantly lose ALL rapport - because you’ve communicated to them that you failed to take into account even the most preliminary of assessments.
BEFORE you speak.
Ask yourself:
- How much do they know?
- How much explaining of background and context is required of me here?
The most skilled communicators not only nail this estimation, but also explicitly address it.
With words and phrases like
“In case you didn’t know….”
or “As I’m sure you’re all too familiar with…” etc.
Trump does this excellently with,
“And you’d probably know this better than anyone…” and proceeds with his point.
By doing this he acknowledges NOT ONLY that his listener is familiar with the subject, BUT that they are also an expert, who is positioned to evaluate his next words with a higher level of accuracy and judgment than most people are capable of.
By doing this, you make the listener feel intensely SEEN and HEARD. Which creates a powerfully magnetic effect of “This person GETS me.”
Do you understand?
Trump uses chaos as a method. He is realising his policy goals through chaos. And he is achieving them.
Trump had 3 main objectives as a preliminary to his phase 2 pro growth agenda.
He wanted a lower $. He got the worst $ performance in the first 70 days of any year of the pat 30 years!
He wanted a lower crude price. He so much got that ticked that he almost cost Andurand his fund…
He wanted lower rates. And this is where the biggest misunderstanding of his policies lies. He knows that the only way to reduce the deficit and curb the debt trajectory is through lower rates. Lower rates won’t realise without economic pain.
Economic pain is coming because Trump wants it.
If you don't already understand why Everybodyism (democracy, universal rights, equality) is an evil and stupid idea, here's a story for you.
On summer break in between semesters, I had nothing to do one day, and no money to go out. I was just sort of staring into space.
I happened to be sitting in front of one of those wide candles with three wicks like the one pictured. A little bit bored, I decided to fill the burned-away area in the middle of the wax with rubbing alcohol and light it, to make a super-candle, just for the spectacle of it. I put it on top of a baking sheet to prevent any spreading of the flame in case the glass broke.
A little odd, sure. But I just wanted some sort of stimulation.
Somebody came home and saw the candle. "BIG FIRE BAD," this person said, and filled a pot of water to put it out.
"DON'T POUR WATER ON IT," I said. "IT WILL OVERFLOW. YOU HAVE TO SMOTHER IT."
This person walked towards the candle with the water.
"LISTEN, DON'T POUR THAT IN THERE, YOU'LL SET THE HOUSE ON FIRE," I said.
This person began pouring water into the burning alcohol.
"STOP," I said.
This person did not stop. They hastily dumped a full pot of water into the candle.
The flame poured over the edge, splashed on the baking sheet, and got all over the floor.
"Oh, no!" said this person. "What the hell?"
We both scrambled to stomp out the flames on the carpet.
"Why did you do that?" I asked.
"I didn't know that would happen," the person said.
This is why Everybodyism doesn't work. The people who understand things have no power but to scream at the people who don't understand them, and they never listen, because stupid people don't know they're stupid.
They will try communism again.
"DON'T DO THAT, YOU'LL KILL EVERYONE."
"I didn't know that would happen!"
They will open the borders and let in millions of hostile people.
"DON'T DO THAT, THEY WILL TAKE OVER ONCE THEY OUTNUMBER YOU.
"I didn't know that would happen!"
Speaking to the stupid is a waste of time and giving them power is suicide.

This sort of magical thinking of “I spin a $7 latte in a minute & I’ve already made my hourly wage, & the rest goes to my evil boss as profit” just shows a crippling, self-centered misunderstanding of business.
Your “evil boss” has to buy the espresso, the milk, the syrup, & the whip cream that goes in the latte. They also have to buy & maintain the espresso machine & tools you use to make it. They have to buy & maintain the refrigerators where you keep the milk. The ice machine. Not to mention your boss has to make sure they have enough money to maintain the cafe building & make payments. Your boss takes more risk than you do & has to maintain more than you do. That’s why he/she makes more money.

Squatters came in, threatened other inhabitants in the building with guns to make them leave, once they do the squatters play landlord and rent the apartments out to other squatters
Western laws don't cater to insane people, it is wild to watch
YOU CAN HAVE WHATEVER YOU WANT.
On one condition:
You do whatever is required.
That does not guarantee happiness, safety, fulfilment, efficiency, or even that it will have been worth it in the end.
