Did YOU want to watch CCTV's AI Martial Arts cartoon about the Straits of Hormuz crisis? Complete with fighting Persian Cats? Well I subtitled it for you so you can enjoy it in all its trope-laden glory! Remember kids, the mountains will stay standing while the green water flows, and the true art of war is not figuring out how to fight, but how to stop!🥷😼🦅
BlackRock in Nairobi isn’t a visit. It’s a signal.
The world’s largest asset manager doesn’t “explore markets.” It positions itself before capital flows.
This isn’t about ETFs. Not yet.
It’s about shaping how Kenyan wealth will be measured, allocated, and controlled.
Because advisory is where the real game is played.
Train the advisors → influence the portfolios → direct the capital. And where does that capital go?
Outward.
Into global markets. Priced in USD. Custodied elsewhere.
That’s the model.
But here’s the question we should be asking. Do we want Kenyan wealth to be routed… or rooted?
Because there is now an alternative. Not a product. Not a fund. Not something that needs approval from London or New York.
An asset that:
•settles globally
•can be self-custodied
•doesn’t require permission
•and measures value without dilution
BlackRock is building the rails for allocation.
We should be building the rails for sovereignty.
Both will grow.
But they lead to very different futures.
The real story isn’t that BlackRock is here.
It’s whether we understand what that means and what comes next.
@mrcapybaros I think kuna tofauti na US foreign policy na random mentions of kenya in media. Si ati mawriter wa films/tv wanaketi na CIA kumake sure kenya iko mentioned
Someone asked me why Kenya (or places within it or its propped history) is mentioned in random movies/things and I told them it is to bolster the exceptionalism to keep Kenyans as foot soldiers and also a backup country for yt people.
This place has been kept purely for that.
