@commaficionado This. I can only describe pain with similes, not as sharp, blunt, etc. and I don't understand the pain scale. I have a high pain tolerance & sensory issues, I can ignore significant pain or be overwhelmed by minor pain. It's apparently not linear based on all possible pains

@LeChatMystique @lesina95@AutisticCallum_ I have an issue with heights so stairs looking down gives me the same feeling of unease as standing on a roof, also coordination & balance issues. It might help him feel more comfortable to practice walking along the wall with you holding his hand on the other side for stability?
@NataszaStrapko @FunFactsLulu Same. When I was a kid, adults would always try to explain the difference between can't and won't to me and get so angry when I stated that I understood and COULDN'T do something especially if I said a sensory thing "hurt" bc they didn't believe that it could be true
@MidbookReview Yes! The pressure from headphones stresses me out so much when I'm already overwhelmed. I like certain earbuds, but the texture and pressure of headphones is generally just a lot for me
Eye contact literally causes pain in some autistic people, they avoid it because it feels harmful to them, there's massive obvious issues with teaching children to ignore their natural boundaries to "make adults feel important", in case y'all still don't see how aba is harmful
@lilririah I'm mixed, half Filipino half Haitian w/a tad of European ancestory on the Haitian side. Often I feel like an imposter bc my skin is fairly light and I haven't faced too many racial struggles, but sometimes it does feel right bc my experience is so different than white people's
all i’m saying is obama was not allowed to pick a new judge when scalia died because obama was leaving office in 7 months. so i SWEAR TO GOD if they let TRUMP pick a replacement TWO MONTHS before an election i’m going to eat an entire door
I woke up and went to eat my leftover chinese food and lmao apparently I got chinese food in my first dream of the night so I had it in my mind as yesterday and separate from my last dream of the night but no it does not exist 🙃 I disappoint myself
@Supernova_tash @AspieHuman @AllAutistics ABA is a form of compliance training and focuses more on doing (or stopping) behaviors than the reasons it can sometimes be helpful to act in a certain way which ends up being harmful psychologically because autistic people have reasons for acting the way they do
@Supernova_tash @AspieHuman @AllAutistics Masking has so many repercussions for autistic people though. It's heavily linked to depression, anxiety, ptsd, etc. and ABA therapy is much more strongly correlated. I understand the importance of masking in some scenarios but there are other ways to fit in/stay safe than ABA
