In an interview with The Jerusalem Post, actor and talk show host Jerry O'Connell opens up about his support for Israel and the Jewish community - a commitment rooted in a childhood promise he made at nine years old after learning about the Holocaust. After watching an IDF documentary of October 7, 2023, O’Connell said his childhood vow resurfaced with urgency: "I thought I am witnessing a Holocaust; antisemitism on a global level again. That childhood feeling. That anger. That promise: if something like this ever happens again, I'm going to do something."

In a historic first, Israeli physicians at Clalit-Schneider Children's Medical Center in Petah Tikva became the first in the world to treat a fatal genetic brain disorder by injecting a healthy gene directly into an eight-month-old infant's brain.
The groundbreaking procedure united an Israeli neurologist, the head of the hospital's genetics unit, an Arab-Israeli researcher from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Israeli-born CEO of an American biotech company in an extraordinary international effort to save one child's life. The baby has since been discharged home, marking a landmark moment in personalized genetic medicine.

Even after his death, IDF Captain Shahar Gamla (23) continues to save lives through organ donations.
Shahar was seriously wounded in a Hezbollah explosive drone attack in southern Lebanon and succumbed to his injuries on June 6, 2026.
In the midst of unimaginable grief, Shahar’s family generously decided to donate his organs. His mother shared, “There is nothing greater than organ donation leaving Shahar to live in other people. With great joy and love.”
Through this extraordinary act, Shahar saved many lives, with transplants taking place across Israeli numerous hospitals. A seven-year-old girl (pictured) received a portion of his liver, a 69-year-old man received a liver transplant, a 54-year-old man received his heart, and a 47-year-old man received his lungs. His kidneys were transplanted into a 72-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man. Additionally, Shahar’s skin was donated to Israel’s National Skin Bank, and his corneas were also donated.
May Shahar’s memory forever be a blessing. 🕯️

Jerusalem Pride turned a divided city into a celebration of belonging
Jerusalem Pride is for those of us who believe in the dignity of every human being, regardless of who they love, how they pray, or where they come from.
@AJEnglish Universities should build bridges, not barriers.
Academic boycotts target institutions dedicated to research, education, and the free exchange of ideas. If we truly value dialogue, isolating scholars and students is the wrong approach.
This conveniently omits years of Hezbollah attacks on Israeli communities and its deliberate entrenchment of terrorist infrastructure within civilian areas across southern Lebanon.
Israel is targeting Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure, not the Lebanese people. Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed terrorist organization, deliberately targets Israeli civilians.
Context matters.
Serious sexual misconduct findings lead to the suspension of International Criminal Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, with ICC member states set to vote on his future status.
In April 2026, another alleged controversy involving Khan made headlines. The ICC prosecutor who issued arrest warrants for Israeli leaders was allegedly promised protection by Qatar - the same country that later hired private investigators to discredit the woman accusing him of sexual assault. Audio recordings reviewed by the Wall Street Journal reveal a private intelligence operation manager describing an alleged deal between Karim Khan and Qatar: "He was like, 'I want to issue the warrant, but I'm terrified to do it.' And they said, 'if you do it, then we'll look after you.'" The recordings emerged from a Qatar-commissioned operation targeting Khan's accuser, according to a witness statement submitted to the FBI.
Eighty-two years ago, on June 9th, 1944, Jewish paratrooper Hannah Szenes embarked on a daring mission to rescue Hungarian Jews from the grip of Nazi occupation. Crossing into Hungary, she displayed remarkable courage. She was ultimately captured and tortured by the Nazis, but she refused to divulge any information. Tragically, on November 7th, 1944, at the young age of 23, she was executed. Today, we honor and commemorate the heroism and selflessness of this young Jewish heroine, whose actions undeniably altered the course of history for the better and inspired so many.
May her memory be a blessing. 🕯️
🚨BREAKING: A Hezbollah terrorist in Lebanon approached the Israeli border, shooting at IDF troops in the area. The terrorist was killed, no physical injuries reported.
An emotional message shared by Noa Argamani on the second anniversary of her June 8, 2024, rescue from Hamas captivity in Gaza. Noa was kidnapped from southern Israel during the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre and held hostage for 245 days before being rescued by Israeli forces.
“Two years.
Two years of joy and pain,
of tears and laughter, of moments of euphoria alongside failures, of brokenness alongside growth.
Two years of grief, two years of freedom, two years since I got my life back.
Today, I pause for a moment, look back on the journey, and feel deeply grateful.
For the privilege of being alive.
For the good people who walk beside me every step of the way, my guardian angels.
For the opportunities that opened before me, for the places I have been fortunate enough to see, for the people I have met, and for the small and great moments that remind me how fragile life truly is.
But more than anything, I want to thank Arnon Zamora.
Not a day goes by without me remembering that my freedom came at the highest price paid by him and his family.
His sacrifice gave me a second chance at life. I hope to live that life in a way that honors your courage, to continue walking in your path, and to remind the world that you were not only a hero, but also a remarkable person with extraordinary values.
Two years later, my heart still carries pain and loss.
But alongside them, it carries immense gratitude.
For life, for freedom, and for the opportunity to choose life, every single day."
