On this day in 1944, Dr. Alfred Blalock, Dr. Helen Taussig, and surgical technician Vivien Thomas performed the first-ever surgery to treat the #CHD, Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). The surgery became known as the BTT shunt, honoring the medical staff.
Individuals with CHD are more resilient than healthy counterparts. Lower resilience was assoc. with frequent hospitalizations, mental health diagnoses, lack of exercise, and no participation in CHD support groups or camps @JAHA_AHA@Schuch_doc@melissacousino@wernovsky30362
