We often learn the most from mistakes. This is why assessment used in a formative way—to inform next steps in teaching and learning—is so powerful. If we assess kids, but then don’t allow them to revise and try again, then we wasted the power & benefit of the mistakes. #atplc
Nothing diminishes hope faster than focusing on things you can’t control. The key is focusing on things that you and your teammates can directly influence...like effective instruction, assessment, intervention, and extension.
Here is today's experiment of the day: Air Pressure Continued and Is the Cup Empty or Full? Enjoy! @AntoniaMSFOX@foxc6schools#c6learns https://t.co/nlqrCws6aD
@alicekeeler Thank you for being THE place to go to understand options on serving our students! I wouldn't choose this adventure, but I'm excited to learn!
What if we treat this as an unprecedented educational opportunity to traslate learning into growth on essential skills rather than an arbitrary letter? #c6learns
Fascinating study on academic cheating shows that it's predicted by (absence of) need fulfillment, which in turn reflects how kids are taught: https://t.co/tsDxbVlmFK. Of course this is inconvenient for adults who'd rather just blame & punish students who cheat...
Agree x10. Learning is complex. Why do we continue to pretend that knowing the skill by Fri at 10:25 means more than knowing the skill a week later? Maybe it’s more about T’s systems than Ss’ skills?
@dtfitzp I couldn’t agree more with the attendance article, building relationships ftw! Also, I’d love to learn more about supporting our Ss of color. Personal bias can be hard to confront.

It felt scary at first, but @MsRileyGandT learned to let go of her micro-managing mentality and embrace the notion that students needed to drive their learning https://t.co/FzjNzP7WRX @LindaFlanagan2#edchat#teachchat
