Well, I've been meaning to do a pinned intro, so I may as well do it now with contact options.
Hi! I'm a mixed-Japanese femme based in Toronto. I do cultural consultation in TTRPGs, and I'm always open to contracts for anything that draws from Japanese history/culture.
Yesterday, someone pointed to my shakōki dogū necklace and said "that looks familiar for some reason." Perfect timing, I just published my study of Jōmon dogū in pop culture through J of Social Archaeology! It's open access if you're interested 😸 https://t.co/U8rmbZRRXk
On Friday September 27th, the Archaeology Centre welcomes Paulette Steeves for a talk titled: "Indigenous Archaeologies of Reclaiming and Revivance." All welcome.
The new centre is part of a plan for former Ontario Place, a provincial redevelopment project that has been a mess. Last summer they removed the Japanese Canadian Centennial Temple Bell (also by Moriyama), but claim it will be returned one day.

Feeling tired as I learn more things related to the history of Japanese Canadian communities may disappear, become less accessible, or be irreparably altered.
Just a short list for those interested in more info, but mostly needed to rant a little. 🧵
I see the JCCC news as related to the closure and call for demolition of the Ontario Science Centre earlier this summer. This is another building designed by Raymond Moriyama, and an important public institution for many in Ontario.

July has really flown by for me. Feels like it was only last week that we recorded this, but it was not. Thanks Ken and Gabe for a great chat on the New Brunswick Archaeology Podcast! https://t.co/Wezqvy4BiE
