I never took Heizou for someone devout. People describe his intuition as "godlike," so I imagine he rarely finds himself begging the gods for anything. Seeing him pray implies that even his own intuition can't promise everything will be alright and it hurts my heart. 😭

@phanziska Because their gods are actually tangible yeah. It's cool to think about when there are characters like Wanderer or Arlecchino who may serve a god but don't really pray out of devotion, so seeing them do such things implies it's out of desperation or they gain something in return.

@heizshik I always interpreted it as him respecting her as the shogun, but not as a god he religiously prays to every night. People were in danger and the big boss wanted the mystery solved in order to protect others, there wasn't a reason for him to do otherwise. 😭
