At first glance, Ha Long Bay looks like a fantasy landscape.
It isn't.
Rising from the emerald waters are thousands of limestone islands shaped over millions of years by rain, wind, and the sea.
According to local legend, dragons descended from the heavens and scattered jewels into the bay to protect Vietnam from invaders.
Those jewels became the islands we see today.
Whether you believe the legend or not, it's hard not to feel like you've entered another world.
