That's because everybody, including mixed-race people, knows there's a hierarchy based on phenotype: the more unambiguously black someone looks, the lower they sit on the racial ladder because they're the furthest from the Eurocentric beauty standard. That's why I don't really listen to biracials or lightskins when they try to talk about 'reverse colorism' which does not exist, they know exactly how the world treats people whose phenotype stray the furthest from whiteness. We all live in the same world, so we all recognize the racial hierarchy whether we admit it or not: the whiter you look, the better you're treated, the more black/african you look, the worse you get treated.
A mixed person with curly hair might face mistreatment from white people for not being fully white, but in the black community they're often put on a pedestal because black people as a whole worship mixed & biracial people, then that same curly-haired mixed person turns around & uses that privilege to torment a mixed person with kinkier hair texture, because in their mind, 4C hair deserves ridicule since it's even further from whiteness. The mixed person with lightskin & curly hair benefit from both colorism and texturism, while the mixed person with lightskin & kinkier hair only benefits from colorism.
It trickles down from there: the mixed person with 4C hair might then go after a dark-skinned person with looser curls, even though that dark-skinned person has a looser hair texture, I firmly believe that colorism runs deeper than both texturism & featurism despite the isms occasionally working hand in hand, so they get treated worse for being darkskin because people tend to notice color first, hair texture & features second. And finally, that dark-skinned person with loose curls will turn around and torment a dark-skinned person with 4C hair, because they're now dealing with someone who has zero proximity to whiteness & does not benefit from ANY of the isms.
That's how the hierarchy inside blackness works, it's a constant trickle-down effect.
some of u have got to be purposely misunderstanding my tweet like obviously im not talking about general criticism and opinions 🦭 i’m talking about people ripping a small production to shreds and treating it like the new laughing stock bandwagon of the month
Defending black Americans is only important when it's a non-black person doing it, it doesn't feel 'special' coming from a black immigrant, I understand that now.
"I don't need no African defending me or my people"
But let me have been a white person (especially a white American) who said the same thing I said verbatim, he would be jumping for joy, he & other fbas would be beyond elated if it was a white person who said the bare minimum.
There are lots of questions about being a voice actor for FLY. While there is not an official call out, the best way you can show your interest is by continuing to like and share and support the story. Talent is great, but I am also really drawn to people who BELIEVE. 🪽💖💫
Tried my hand at drawing them in old storybooks style! I never really read the stories themselves more than just stare at the art for hours lol but it always comforted me.

I truly think she saved his life at this moment. Gave him a reason to still be sane and not abstract so soon. They care so much for each other idgafff 🥹😞💔

@Ppwgwvwpwp Isn't it harsh to insert yourself into the most abusive character in the show and continue to abuse and neglect all the women characters? Aren't you being overly entitled to think those with a normal working soul and brain won't call that out and shame your ass?
