“If She Gets Free, Her Supporters Should Have to LET HER BABYSIT.”

ROGAN: “Imagine If a SINGLE FATHER killed his kids. He wouldn’t get this same sympathy.”

CONTEXT: Hundreds of supporters, (overwhelmingly women) recently gathered outside Lindsay Clancy’s Massachusetts murder trial wearing pink and holding signs including “She Needed Help” and “Peace For Lindsay.”

Clancy admits that she strangled her three children Cora 5, Dawson 3, and Callan 8 months in January 2023.

But the actual legal fight is over why she did it and whether she was criminally responsible.

Her defense says she was suffering from postpartum psychosis, experienced command hallucinations, and had lost touch with reality.

Prosecutors argue the killings were deliberate: that she intentionally got her husband out of the house, knew what she was doing, and later fabricated parts of the psychosis story.

And as of today, the jury has told the judge it cannot reach a unanimous verdict after four days of deliberations.

SIMPSON: “She strangled her three kids.”

“You was three for three on the strangulation, and then when you tried to kill yourself, you’re using unproven methods.”

“Why not strangle yourself? You are definitely good at that.”

ROGAN: “If those ladies could see the crime scene and see those dead kids…I don’t think they would feel so bad for her.”

IMPORTANT NOTES: A finding that Clancy lacked criminal responsibility would not necessarily mean she simply walks out of court and goes home.

She could instead be committed to a psychiatric hospital if she is considered dangerous.

So the real argument is harder than “sympathy vs. punishment.”

If severe psychosis genuinely made someone incapable of understanding or controlling what they were doing, should the law treat that person differently?

And Rogan’s question creates the other half of the argument:

Would hundreds of people be standing outside a courthouse showing the same public sympathy if the defendant were a father who had strangled his three children?
