And when Japanese artists finally perform overseas, Japanese fans often fly there too and take front row spots. They can easily watch them both in Japan and abroad, while overseas fans may only get one rare chance. Sometimes it really feels like a privilege gap.

i think it’s easy enough to be a journalist when all you do is serve your own interests and repeat company messaging without a thought for the role you play in the industry and fandom as a whole, and i want you to know that none of us respect you for it whatsoever and never will.
anyway i’m gonna shut up about it after this but just wanna say that i have plenty of journalist friends who work in entertainment press that are always questioning and examining what role they play in corporate messaging +
+ and aren’t afraid to push back when that goes against fans’ best interests. i’ve also met plenty of access “journalists” who care more about kowtowing to the company line and won’t stand up for those without power and they disgust me.
