Transparency! I love that @thefarmbabe admits that she too has fallen for food labeling and marking spells and now wants to share the knowledge with the rest of us still under the spell. I recommend everyone read this article! @beh353#beh353
Mythbusting food labels was one of the biggest aspects of starting this platform. Why? Because I once believed the myths too. @AGDAILYMedia

@masoomaamini624@beh353 I agree! Food has managed to make a lot of connections in our lives and it’s important that we acknowledge them and know how to go about them to help ourselves and our future patients. @beh353#beh353
As a future HPC I plan to incorporate the knowledge of nutrition to be as healthy as I can be and to help set an example and guide patients. I will also stress important skills we learned in this class, like validating sources/authors, to my patients. @beh353#beh353
This is a great reminder that we may not be as in control of our diets as we like to believe. Marketing and our environments heavily influence what we are eating. I recommend that people read this for a quick refresh! @beh353#beh353
@Saribelv03@EmmaDArpinoRD@beh353 I agree! Sometimes we get swept up with trends or getting caught up with what other people are saying that we miss this breakdown, such as the one we saw in the presentation! @beh353#beh353
@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you so much for your clarification on “food addiction”! I like how you highlight that the causes of this eating habit is rooted in our relationship and thought process regarding food and diet. This is useful information as a future HCP! @beh353#beh353
This is yet another example why we should investigate articles that are promoting ideas, to see if there are conflicts of interests or motives. Funding influences authors and publications, which can influence the public. @beh353#beh353

I would recommend that children’s parents read this article because it was created by the National Institute of Health, it is easy to read, and I like how it also teaches parents how to talk about diet and health to their kids. @beh353#beh353
This is an interesting research paper! And it may prove to people who support carnivorous diets, that protein derived from other sources can be equally as helpful and are valid! @beh353#beh353
Vegan and Omnivorous High Protein Diets Support Comparable Daily Myofibrillar Protein Synthesis Rates and Skeletal Muscle Hypertrophy in Young Adults https://t.co/Z7mHpxe34r
@colinnguyen2013@beh353 I agree! Weight includes many factors that just can’t be seen by single assessment of a person. This is important to remember as a future healthcare provider. @beh353#beh353
The topic of weight can be very overwhelming for many individuals. As a future healthcare worker, it is important that identify this as a sensitive topic and seek the whole picture for each patient to see how to be the most helpful and understanding. @beh353#beh353
This is pleasant to hear! I wonder if these findings about food security has had any significant impacts on the case of obesity in the U.S.? Has it improved the health of Americans, or diminished it? @beh353#beh353
@masoomaamini624@beh353 I agree! This is also more reason why we should push for healthier food options in elementary schools because these children are at vulnerable ages that impact their future. @beh353#beh353
It is striking to learn how sleep plays a role in managing weight, and chronic sleep restriction can possibly lead to obesity. Knowing this and other important roles of sleep, I will emphasize in my life having a consistent sleep schedule with good sleep hygiene. @beh353#beh353
@AKPici025@beh353 I agree! Additionally, seeing others making not so healthy choices makes it harder to make healthier choices when there is the option. @beh353#beh353
Educating people about basic health and nutrition terminology should be a more common thing. However, having verbiage verified by the government should be a given, in order to prevent these misinterpretations amongst the public. @beh353#beh353
Consumers often think that the term "all natural" on food labels indicates how the animal was raised
The fine print on this label verbiage is exactly what marketers want you to miss. They want you to pay a premium for the misconceptions surrounding this wording. Get in the know!
Lack of time to cook healthy foods has been a health barrier for me. Between going to school full time, working in a lab, and having a job that requires overnight shifts, it’s been hard to find time to sleep and study, and even harder to cook healthy food. @beh353#beh353
I love that these events are being hosted and are available for the public to be a part of. I hope there is some discussion about vitamins and vitamin disparities that occur within different socioeconomic groups. #beh353@beh353
@AniOurfalian@beh353 Interesting! Also, there are so many ingredients in this supplement. How can we, as consumers, know for certain that the amount of active ingredients is accurate if the FDA is not accurate in monitoring all drugs and supplements? @beh353#beh353
