It's interesting to observe the API token model becoming the norm in AI models. This is something I suspected was going to happen from the beginning.

Model progression: Free, subscription, token.

I think eventually this has the potential to price out the average person from being able to use these AI tools for any important or income producing purposes.

It literally is token gating by design. The question is what is the motivation for these AI platforms in society as a whole?

@ZssBecker The token model is the key. Of course they will tweak it to use more tokens and tell the consumer it's just doing a deep dive so it's better.

It's the next step in sucking as much profit as possible from the entire world.
