At my last job, there was this unspoken rule that lunch had to be social. Everyone gathered in the break room, making small talk, laughing a little too loudly, pretending we weren’t all exhausted.
But there was one coworker who always took her lunch outside, sat on a bench with her food, and just… existed. No phone, no conversation, no pressure. At first people whispered—“she’s kind of antisocial,” “does she not like us?”
One day I asked her about it, and she just shrugged and said, “It’s the only 30 minutes in my day that belong to me.”
After that, I started noticing how drained everyone looked by 3PM… except her. She came back calm, focused, recharged. Meanwhile, the rest of us had spent our “break” performing.
That’s when it clicked... wanting quiet doesn’t make someone rude. Sometimes it just means they know how to take care of themselves.
„Früher“ hätten das Bayern-Spiel gestern Abend 11 Mio gesehen und man hätte heute überall drüber geredet, was ein epischer Abend das war. Durch den ganzen Abo-Scheiß sagt man jetzt nur Sätze wie „Geiles Spiel gestern. Hab nix gesehen, aber was man liest war ja richtig was los“
we live on a planet where trees warn each other of danger through underground networks. where octopuses dream. where elephants return to the bones of their dead and stand over them in silence. where bees communicate through dance, showing each other where to fly. where flowers bloom...where crows remember human faces -especially those who were cruel to them - and pass that memory on to their young. where ants build entire cities. where cats purr at a frequency that can help heal bones. where forests, after fires, grow flowers first.
@Chizitere_xyz Its not Instagram. Its human beings not being able to critically think. Humans never wanna own the role they play in their own suffering.
I had a massive reality check last night about how Instagram is actively destroying long-term relationships by convincing us that love is supposed to be a 24/7 "soft life" aesthetic.
It was late, the apartment was stifling, and the power had randomly tripped. I was lying in the dark, scrolling through IG, watching a reel of some influencer getting surprised with a Cartier bracelet and a baecation. The caption was: “Never settle for less.”
Honestly, I let the internet poison my mind for a second. That familiar, creeping panic started settling in. I started wondering if my own relationship had lost the "spark" because we hadn’t done any grand romantic gestures lately. We were basically just splitting the crushing weight of adulthood.
Then I looked over at my man. There was no curated aesthetic. No cinematic background music. He was completely exhausted from his own day, but there he was, sitting on the bare floor in the dark, using his phone flashlight to help me count and sort out my ID Vogue orders so my morning deliveries wouldn't be delayed.
The entire Instagram illusion just shattered for me.
Social media has gaslit us into believing that if a relationship isn’t actively triggering your anxiety with constant highs and butterflies, it’s "dead." We mistake peace for boredom. We want a burning fire, completely forgetting that fires eventually burn the house down.
The harsh truth? Most long-term relationships aren't held together by overwhelming passion. They are held together by a VOW to look at each other in the middle of a brutal economy and say, "I am not going to let you drown today."
The internet will call that "settling." But the internet doesn't know a damn thing about what it actually takes to keep the water out and the house warm when things get dark. Stop letting a 60-second PR campaign ruin your real life.
The sun you see right now exploded 7 minutes ago and you'd have no way of knowing. You'd still feel its warmth. Still see it in the sky. Still orbit it. For 8 minutes and 20 seconds, you'd live in a universe that no longer has a sun and have absolutely no way to detect the difference.
This is because gravity also travels at the speed of light. If the sun vanished, Earth would continue orbiting the empty space where it used to be for the same 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Einstein proved this. The gravitational wave carrying the information "the sun is gone" propagates at exactly c. Light, gravity, and information all share the same speed limit.
Now scale the paradox in this post. 90 light-years is nothing. The Andromeda galaxy is 2.5 million light-years away. Every photograph of it is a 2.5 million year old snapshot. The entire galaxy could have collided with something catastrophic 2 million years ago. We'll find out 500,000 years from now.
The James Webb Space Telescope routinely photographs galaxies from 13.4 billion years ago. Those galaxies no longer exist in any form we'd recognize. The stars burned out. The civilizations, if any, rose and fell billions of years before Earth formed. Webb is photographing ghosts.
The deepest implication: "right now" is a local phenomenon. It exists only in the space you can physically touch. Beyond that, everything you see, measure, or interact with is a time-delayed recording. The further you look, the older the recording gets. There is no method, even in principle, to know the current state of anything beyond your immediate surroundings.
The entire observable universe is a 13.8 billion year old museum where every exhibit is labeled with a different date and nothing is current.
This might be the Gen Z in me talking, but some of y'all take these jobs way too seriously and Why are you snitching on coworkers, skipping breaks, coming in on your days off, & refusing to use your PTO or call out?? Especially for jobs with little to no room for growth. Be for real lol guys
UEFA = 👹"
