Jsem Ukrajinka, která po začátku plnohodnotné války našla útočiště v Česku. A začínám se tady bát žít.

Chtěla bych, abychom si z toho, co se právě děje v Polsku, vzali ponaučení a připravili se na to, co sem s velkou pravděpodobností přijde také. Za podmínek, které dnes v Česku panují, je to téměř nevyhnutelný scénář. Je to zcela předvídatelný důsledek úspěšného působení aktivní ruské agentury v zemích bývalého východního bloku.

Skupiny lidí, které jsou velmi citlivé na propagandu a mají sklon věřit dezinformacím, se postupně radikalizují. Pomalu, ale velmi jistě a účinně. Krajně pravicoví politici získávají stále silnější postavení ve veřejném životě a jejich voliči začínají mít pocit, že právě oni představují většinu, která má pravdu.

Podle informací polského deníku Rzeczpospolita, které potvrdila i mezinárodní média, přijala polská policie v prvním pololetí roku 2026 celkem 180 oznámení o trestných činech z nenávisti vůči Ukrajincům. To je přibližně o 30 % více než ve stejném období roku 2025 a svědčí to o sílících projevech xenofobie v části společnosti.

Polsko přitom na státní úrovni tento problém řeší:
- od února 2026 pověřilo polské ministerstvo spravedlnosti vyšetřováním trestných činů z nenávisti 50 útvarů státního zastupitelství, což umožňuje pokrýt případy po celé zemi. Vyplývá to z odpovědi na oficiální žádost.
- polská policie navíc schválila Plán posílení schopnosti policie vést přípravná řízení ve věcech trestných činů spáchaných z předsudečných pohnutek na období 2026–2029. Podle něj má být v každém městském, okresním i obvodním policejním útvaru určen pracovník odpovědný za problematiku trestných činů z předsudečných pohnutek.

V Česku ale od současné vlády nemůžeme doufat žádné, natož ani v podobné kroky. O čem se vůbec bavit, když třetí nejvyšší ústavní činitel této země obíhá televizní studia s naprosto odpornými plakáty o chirurzích z dovozu nebo plní ruskou objednávku proti mé osobě tím, že mi veřejně přes své sociální vzkazuje "vypadni zpátky na Ukrajinu“ a ptá se, proč jsem "nešla bojovat na Ukrajinu".

Já sama jsem si už bohužel zvykla na desítky zpráv denně od internetových expertů, kteří mi přejí smrt nebo vyhrožují. Jenže na ulici se oběťmi agresivních neonacistů nestávají lidé kvůli svým politickým názorům, ale prostě proto, že existují.

Na ulici mě kvůli mé činnosti poznává jen velmi málo lidí a vždy jsou to lidé, kteří Ukrajinu podporují. Sama ale z vlastní zkušenosti vím, jaké to je sedět ve vlaku naproti člověku, který obdivuje Okamuru, a vyslechnout si: "Táhni domů, Okamura vás všechny po volbách vyžene." Jen proto, že mám na tričku nápis v azbuce. Obyčejné bílé tričko se zeleným nápisem, který nijak nesouvisí s politikou, válkou ani Ukrajinou. Podobnou zkušenost jsem měla i s jedním velmi milým dědou v tramvaji, když viděl, že čtu knihu v ukrajinštině. Tam už byla na obálce ukrajinská vlajka, to mu přiznejme. Desítky dalších připadů ani nechci popisovat. A nestává se to jenom mně.

V jednu chvíli jsem si uvědomila, že když běhám a vidím proti sobě cizího člověka, automaticky si zakrývám přívěsek ve tvaru Ukrajiny, když jdu někam, tak obracím tašku s ukrajinským merchem dovnitř a snažím se na sobě nemít žádné ukrajinské symboly.

ALE KAM, SAKRA, MÁM SCHOVAT SVŮJ OBLIČEJ A PŘÍZVUK?

Nechci žít ve strachu kvůli své národnosti a rozhlížet se kolem sebe pokaždé, když mluvím s rodinou ukrajinsky po telefonu.

Schválně jsem vybrala komentáře pod přispěvlem @SeznamZpravy od profilů, které vypadají jako profily skutečných lidí. A vyděsil mě rozsah té nenávisti. Protože až jednou vybuchne, nebude si vybírat a zasáhne všechny.

Good news from Ukraine. Today is the first day of spring. We have lived through the hardest winter of the full-scale war.

Living without electricity, heating, and water supply in freezing weather was physically and emotionally draining.

And yet, there were so many acts of kindness and light during those dark times. This is also part of the story of this winter.

A lot of our friends helped Ukraine tremendously. Thank you!

Ukrainians are beyond grateful to our Defenders, energy workers, everyone who protects us and undoes the damage done by Russia 24/7, in bitter cold and extreme heat.

Here are some of the examples I want to remember from this winter:

▪️ Ukrainians offered help to neighbors, friends, and strangers alike - to anyone who needed it.

"I have gas to cook and hot water to wash. Welcome."

"The power is out, but we have water, gas, and a boiler with hot water. If anyone needs it - you’re welcome to come over."

"If you have a small kid and need to cook (we have gas), bathe, or charge your devices, please reach out. We’re just an ordinary family, but we’ll share what we have. We are nearby, we are together, we are unbreakable."

These were just a few of the thousands of posts that flooded social media this winter.

Restaurants and other businesses invited people in to warm up, take a shower, charge devices, dry their hair, and have a cup of hot tea. Shopping malls opened co-working spaces so people could continue working.

▪️ People built warming shelters for stray animals, let them into shops and buses to warm up, fed birds, and brought food and hay for swans.

▪️ Colorful igloos made of ice blocks helped people see beauty even in the darkest times.

▪️ Neighbors spontaneously organized "parties" in the courtyards of apartment buildings or by frozen lakes - with food cooked over open fires, dancing, and conversation.

Píšu si s blízkou kamarádkou, která žije ve Vinnycji. Ptám: jak jste na tom s elektřinou? Odpovídá: ráno hodina, pak zase hodina mezi pátou a šestou večer. To je všechno.

Pak se dostáváme k práci a podnikání. Bavíme se o tom, jaké jsou podmínky na trhu práce a jak těžké to mají menší podnikatelé, protože udržovat provoz pomocí generátorů se dlouhodobě prostě nedá. Je vlastně malý zázrak, že ukrajinská ekonomika, i když kulhá, pořád nějak funguje.

Píšu jí, že letos je ta zima snad naschvál krutější než jindy. Říká, že už si na takový mráz odvykla, že má šatník do úplně jiného klimatu a že na –15 stupňů prostě není připravená.

Na konci mi napíše jednu větu, která mě hodně zasáhne:

„Ale všechny naše myšlenky jsou s vojáky. Jen Bůh ví, jaké to tam pro ně je.“

Obdivuji svůj národ. Každý, kdo v Ukrajině žije je hrdina. I když je teď každému z nich těžko jinak, všichni chápou, komu je ze všech nejtěžší. Myslí na vojáky, na lidi na frontě, a dávají jejich utrpení před své vlastní problémy.

🆘 Russian activist Anastasia Zinovkina, held in a prison in Georgia over trumped-up drug charges, reports extreme medical neglect.

Anastasia has spinal issues. She is in constant pain. She receives only painkillers; no treatment, no orthopedic mattress/pillow.

Yesterday her pain worsened so much that she couldn’t stand.
She screamed for help for 8 hours — alone in a solitary cell.
Guards opened the hatch but refused assistance.
A nurse later threw a diaper at her and left.
Trying to stand, Anastasia fell to the floor and lay there until midnight, when staff finally lifted her onto her bed.

At 6am she crawled to the toilet. She fashioned a makeshift back brace from rags.
Only today did a doctor return, saying she needs a neurologist — and offering only stronger painkillers, pending approval from a psychiatrist.

Anastasia has been sentenced to 8.5 years in jail. She was an activist in Russia. She briefly moved to Georgia to prepare for her flight to South America, where she was scheduled to get treatment for her back.

She has been treated with extreme cruelty during arrest and in jail, receiving death and rape threats. She suspects being poisoned. She can't even make calls back home. Her mother isn't allowed in the country.

What can we do to help her?

Do I still live in the same world I grew up in?

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in a world where terrorism was considered an unquestionable evil. Terrorist attacks were not just condemned—they were met with decisive action. Terrorists were hunted down in every corner of the globe and usually eliminated.

Terrorism has a broad definition, but for me, it’s simple: violence targeting civilians. If the target is a military facility or formation, that’s a conflict or a war—not terrorism.

Back then, terrorism was associated with groups like al-Qaeda or ISIS. I don’t remember a single U.S. official—Democrat or Republican—justifying or defending terrorist acts. But today, the world has changed.

We now live in a world where the line between terrorism and self-defense is increasingly blurred.

I don’t know what things are like on your street, but on mine, attacks on civilians are still evil. And right now, Russians under their dictator’s command are committing terrorist acts against civilians every single day. At the same time, they cynically call Ukrainian special operations—targeting missile carriers that launch daily strikes on Ukrainian cities—"terrorist acts." That’s like calling the killing of Osama bin Laden a terrorist attack.

What’s worse is that the current U.S. president from the Republican Party—a party I once believed had zero tolerance for terrorists—calls Putin a "friend" and questions Ukrainians’ right to self-defense. That’s gaslighting—manipulating public perception. And sadly, it works. Especially when people forget even the most horrific events so quickly.

That’s why I want to remind you what’s actually happening.

And if you live in the United States, please share this message with your fellow citizens. Every fact below can be verified through reliable sources.

In the past 30 years, russia has instigated wars or conflicts in: Transnistria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Chechnya and of course, Ukraine.

2014 – The annexation of Crimea
After Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity and the ousting of Yanukovych, russia invaded Crimea using unmarked soldiers—violating international humanitarian law. At first, Putin lied, claiming they weren’t russian troops, then later admitted it and even awarded them medals. That moment marked, for me, the hypocrisy, cowardice, and lies of a man who calls himself a "leader."
Russia’s hybrid war in Donbas
Since 2014, russia has supported terrorist groups in Eastern Ukraine, supplying weapons, money, and fighters. They orchestrated military operations and eventually "recognized" the so-called independence of the DPR and LPR—a pretext for full-scale invasion.

February 2022 – Full-scale invasion
On February 24, russia launched a war against Ukraine without a declaration. From the first hours, there were missile strikes on residential neighborhoods, critical infrastructure, and attempts to encircle Kyiv.
Since then, russia has conducted a systematic campaign of terror against civilians. International organizations have documented: Mass executions, Torture, rape, kidnappings, attacks on hospitals, schools, and train stations, deportations and mass graves.

Bucha (March 2022)
After liberation, at least 637 bodies were found. Most were civilians executed with their hands tied.

Mariupol (March–May 2022)
Over 20,000 civilians killed. The city was leveled. A drama theater sheltering civilians was intentionally bombed—up to 600 people died.

Kramatorsk, April 8, 2022
A missile with a cluster warhead hit a train station packed with civilians. 63 people were killed, including 9 children.

Kharkiv, March 1, 2022
The regional administration was bombed in broad daylight. 29 civilians were killed.
Yahidne, Chernihiv region, March 2022
360 people, including children, were held in a school basement by Russian troops. 10 died.

Poltava, September 3, 2024
A strike on a military training facility killed 59 and injured over 300. A hospital was damaged.

Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, July 8, 2024
A russian Kh-101 cruise missile hit the toxicology unit where children were receiving dialysis. At least two adults were killed, including a doctor. Over 30 were injured, including at least 8 children. There were 627 patients in the hospital, including children from abroad.
Evidence: Missile fragment serial numbers, confirmed by Ukraine’s Security Service and Bellingcat.
Components: American and Swiss-made microchips.
Amnesty International: Classified the strike as a war crime.

June 6, 2025
Another massive missile attack on Kyiv. Three killed, dozens wounded. russia called it a "response" to Ukraine striking russian military targets. By their logic, destroying missile launchers is "terrorism," but bombing hospitals is "justified."
I grew up in Simferopol, Crimea. In my city, I was taught that defending your home and family is what real men do. And that terrorism is evil. You don’t make friends with terrorists. You eliminate them.

I don’t know what you were taught where you grew up. I hope russia never comes to your doorstep like it came to mine. But here’s the difference: we Ukrainians were forced to give up our nuclear weapons. And in return, we were promised security guarantees.
One of the signatories of that promise was U.S. President Bill Clinton—on behalf of the American people.

The United States has always seen itself as a defender of freedom, justice, and human life. You were the ones who stepped in when the world faced evil. You fought the Nazis in World War II. After 9/11, you demanded justice—and the world stood with you.
We upheld our end of the deal. We gave up our nukes because you promised that if danger came, you’d be there. That wasn’t just a politician’s promise. It was a symbol of faith in America’s word.

And now, we can’t just blame others for the world not being what it once was. Because we are the ones shaping this world today. Somehow, we’re building the wrong one. But maybe it’s not too late to realize our responsibility to the future—and to build a world where evil is called by its name.

Tomorrow marks one week since the U.S. proposal for a ceasefire in the sky, at sea, and on the front lines has been on the table. The implementation of this proposal could have begun long ago. Every day in wartime is a matter of human lives.

Now, almost a week later, it’s clear to everyone in the world—even to those who refused to acknowledge the truth for the past three years—that it is Putin who continues to drag out this war. For a week now, Putin has been unable to squeeze out ‘yes’ to the ceasefire proposal. He’s saying whatever he wants, but not what the whole world wants to hear.

The unconditional ceasefire proposal is essentially about saving lives, allowing diplomats to work on ensuring security and a lasting peace—the proposal that Russia is ignoring. Pressure is needed to finally make Moscow accept that their war must be brought to an end.

When we arrived in Bucha just a day after it was liberated in April of 2022 this is what we found: 8 men executed in an alley with their hands tied behind their backs. Ukrainians have no other choice but to keep fighting because this is what will happen across the nation if they capitulate to Russia. Я помню как мы смотрели ровно три года назад все эти кадры в режиме реального времени - бесконечные вереницы танков, бмп, грузовиков с солдатами - было понятно, что это десятки и десятки тысяч, и страшно было представлять себе, какой удар предстоит вынести Украине, мозг отказывался верить в реальность происходящего. И вот три года спустя от всей техники с этих видео не осталось ничего, а из тех кто вторгался тогда в Украину преобладающего большинства уже нет в живых, Украина выстояла, и, я надеюсь, будет крепко держаться и дальше. А все, кто начинал, продолжал или просто морально поддерживал это нападение - пусть будут прокляты и никогда им не будет прощения.
