food being a right and a commodity are not mutually exclusive. the right to food does not dictate how to fulfill it. there are billions of people well fed by the market
@SotirisTsern Streats are paved over from time to time anyway, do it incrementally. With enough pipe infrastructure, which can last up to 100 years, you could even cool entire streets.
So, it does, but, you need a dense city, multi day heatwave and near universal AC use for it to be noticeable. And the effects are localised.
Worth noting, AC isn't the only thing contributing to the urban heat island effect, not even the most important.
@SotirisTsern Oh, I know, solar chimneys too. I don't think it's like a huge issue. District cooling is awesome though, places that have deep waters next to them should consider using them as heat sinks
I have to put this into perspective since people usually don't look up government budgets.
For developed countries, 1.5% of GDP going to infrastructure investment is considered high.
As countries grow wealthier, as their retirees become richer, they should spend less in relative terms on older people (as more of them are able to pay for their own retirement). If you spend more on older people, public investment must eventually fall. The result are weaker, less productive societies with angry young people. Spending more on older people is ok if public investments increase at the same rate too.
Conservative young men should reject liberal women (no sex, no relationship) and focus on looking for a conservative woman to marry.
A lot of men who want to have families get into long term relationships with women who don't want kids.
If instead young men rejected these women, and explicitly told them they are dumping her because she's not interested in having kids - that could help get young women to realize that they need to become family-oriented if they want to marry a good man.
Germany’s Friedrich Merz has called for a smaller EU budget ahead of the second day of talks at the European Council summit.

Interest payments on US debt are now ~15% of the total budget, and ever-increasing. No end in sight.
But any serious deficit reduction would require broad tax hikes on the middle and upper classes AND major cuts to mandatory spending. Both parties hate that, so good luck.
