As we continue the road to 250 years as a country, learn how “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” – the promise of the American Revolution – has bonded us together as a nation and made us who we are today.

The United States is deeply concerned by reports of the mistreatment in Tanzania of two East African activists – Ugandan activist Agather Atuhaire and Kenyan activist Boniface Mwangi. Atuhaire was recognized by @StateDept in 2024 as an International Women of Courage Awardee. We call for an immediate and full investigation into the allegations of human rights abuses. We urge all countries in the region to hold to account those responsible for violating human rights, including torture.

[Department of State @StateDept]

Happy Mother’s Day to all moms across America and the world!

[First Lady Melania Trump @FLOTUS]

PASSED: Take It Down Act
Advancing this legislation has been a key focus since I returned to my role as First Lady this past January. I am honored to have contributed to guiding it through Congress.

By safeguarding children from hurtful online behavior today, we take a vital step in nurturing our leaders of tomorrow.

Today marks 2 years of senseless conflict, atrocities, & famine in Sudan. The United States calls on the warring parties to put down their guns & negotiate a durable peace. We urge all countries with influence over the belligerents to press them to protect civilians, allow unhindered humanitarian access & agree to a cessation of hostilities.

[Secretary Marco Rubio @SecRubio]

The United States extends our deepest condolences to the victims of today’s horrifying Russian missile attack on Sumy.

This is a tragic reminder of why President Trump and his Administration are putting so much time and effort into trying to end this war and achieve durable peace.

[Ambassador Mike Huckabee @USAmbIsrael]

As I reflect on the women who embody heroism and all it means to me – my heart is drawn to the women soldiers and observers of the 77th and 13th Battalions who showed incredible bravery at the Nahal Oz outpost on October 7th. These are my women of courage.

[Department of State @StateDept]

Amit, your courage to speak out against the brutality you endured at the hands of Hamas terrorists is an example to us all. The Trump Administration will not rest until every hostage is home.

Thank you @FLOTUS for joining me to recognize this group of courageous women.
