Thanks to human rights lawyer and #NansenAward winner Azizbek Ashurov, Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 in 2019 became the first country to #EndStatelessness

Maha Mamo was born a stateless refugee in Lebanon. The marriage of her Syrian parents of different religions was never recognized & their Syrian citizenship wasn't passed on. 
30 Years later, Maha became a Brazilian citizen 🇧🇷

In 2014, UNHCR & partners launched the #IBelong campaign and outlined 10 key actions to end statelessness. One of the key actions: Remove gender discrimination from nationality laws.
