There is no liberal democratic solution to the fact that a majority of the voting public demands things which are mathematically impossible to provide.
People in France want nigh unlimited funding for everything ranging from Boomer communism to the world’s most lavish welfare state, and no one in electoral politics dares to tell them that all of their demands are physically impossible to meet because courageous politicians are also stupid politicians.
There is no escape. No one can do what must be done because the rewards are too great for those who counter-signal against doing the right thing.
So long as political legitimacy rests upon democratic consent, political reality will tend towards insolvency.

When Amazon hired me on an H-1B visa, Amazon was making losses for 10 straight years. It was operating out of a rented building where we worked on door desks in small cabins. I was in the initial team that built AWS.
Today AWS contributes more than 60% to Amazon's profit. The stock price has gone 300x. Amazon's buildings have changed the skyline of downtown Seattle. Jeff Bezos went on to become the world's richest man.
There were about a hundred H1B visa holders like me in the initial team of Amazon. Good luck building companies and wealth without these 'indentured servants'
Statement on Trump Suspending Microsoft from the PERM Program:
This is a crucial issue for me as the top Democrat on the Immigration Subcommittee, the only member of Congress to have actually had an H-1B visa, and the Representative for tens of thousands of Microsoft workers. The administration has been consistently working to take away legal pathways for immigrants to contribute their talents to our country, and this is yet another of those attacks.
The PERM program is the first step toward an employment-based green card for countless workers who want to contribute to this country, and it lays out a clear process with steps to ensure that this is a net benefit to our economy and does not harm American jobs. Our economy, our communities, and our families depend on immigrants in many sectors, including the tech sector, and heavy-handed attacks like this only hurt efforts to build a strong, stable, and diverse base of workers who have legal pathways to come and be in the United States while also protecting U.S. workers from unscrupulous employers.
You don’t fix a broken immigration system by taking a hammer to legal immigration. Microsoft has been a leader in advocating for comprehensive immigration reforms that modernize an antiquated immigration system and provide more — not fewer — legal pathways for immigrants from all over the world to work here and be with their families. Targeting Microsoft or the PERM program in this way simply undermines legal immigration and weakens America’s ability to innovate.
We are not gonna convince Boomers the money isn’t theirs. It’s load bearing. Like trying to tell a wine mom she transitioned her kid in error. Their entire self image is at stake. They will die before they concede.
We need to assume this and legislate appropriately.

In medieval France, there was an epidemic of nuns who would only meow. They couldn't speak anymore, but only make cat sounds. As the contagion quickly spread from convent to convent, the authorities couldn't find a solution.
They finally resolved to beat and whip the nuns, and they were suddenly cured.
Western boomers with 5 years left to live would forcefully throw their 18 year old grandson into the reactor so they could spend their remaining years gambling their inheritance on slot machines.
It's so sad, he should be sat in a stale retirement home staring out of the window 12 hours a day, whilst being ignored by a care worker on their phone.
