My personal, epic journey of writing a 2-hour film screenplay from a 1000-page epic novel.

I just can't get over #fetalheartcustody - I just can't. It's all I think about.

Is there one single great work of #cinema which #RachelMcAdams stars in? One? They're all flops or blockbusters, but no quality. #film

#crackersandroastturkey for #Mourinho. It's the new song, instead of "sacked in the morning." #CFC #Chelsea

@ossetinski @suburban_cowboy Because "Television is CBC" and "When you watch, you watch the best" and "Canada Lives here." LOL.

[Štát @statfilm]

@suburban_cowboy @cbc It says "We want your ideas" - I'd be worried about a place that asks for ideas but doesn't answer emails. #plagiarism

This is funny. @DureForever wants to borrow my story for one of their characters. I'd be honored :-)

One last version: reduce the scenes to props. Can the props tell the story? Or any story? Do they say something or are they just for show?

[Štát @statfilm]

Another reductionist exercise is to make the #film out of nothing but scenes - just the locations, no people. Do they tell a story?

[Štát @statfilm]

You won't be watching a book on film; you're not watching literature - you're watching a story. I'll be loyal to the story, not the medium.

[Štát @statfilm]

A film made from films - less text, more texture - silence, action, events, expressions, quotes, music, lyrics, songs, transitions.

[Štát @statfilm]

The final film will be made of art-house film, music film, silent, comedy & quotes films. It is a #film made from films, not literature.

[Štát @statfilm]

There's also an art version, another silent film, highlighting parallels & contrasts. The transitions from here will go into final version.

[Štát @statfilm]

Last version is a music version. It is nothing but music, waltzes, sonatas and songs. The most expressive songs will go into final #film.

[Štát @statfilm]

The quotes version is another attempt at reducing dialogue - fewer, more powerful quotes instead of dialogue. Again, only the best remain.

[Štát @statfilm]

The comedy version is to see if we can still convey a serious story through comedy. The best laughs will make it to the final version.

[Štát @statfilm]

The silent film version is meant to reduce dialogue to 0, express everything through actions/events; most expressive scenes will be chosen.

[Štát @statfilm]

I will write several screenplays of same film. Same story, xcept 1 is silent film, 2 is comedy, 3 is just powerful quotes, 4 is music film.

[Štát @statfilm]

I'm writing a TV-screenplay & a novella. 1st is cinematic, 2nd is novel condensed. Film will be based on both, not on novel. #distillery

[Štát @statfilm]

I love complicating my life, that's why my #filmadaptation has me write several screenplays for one film.

[Štát @statfilm]

Last coating the #film needs is music - songs that aren't just mood, but are part of story, lyrics that extend the message. Time is limited.
