ETYMOLOGY OF KNOSSOS
Years ago, the first think that hit me studying Mycenian history is that KNS is a Canaanite word meaning "gathering" (Knis is synagogue in Arabic, Knisseh is church (Knissia), Knesset is parliament, etc).
Chek also Miknes, Miknasa.

🚨 GOLDMAN SACHS DROPS DOOMSDAY STATEMENT: U.S. BONDS HAVE NO BUYERS
Goldman Sachs just admitted the long end of U.S. Treasury market is “totally bidless.”
Translation: almost nobody wants the 10- to 30-year debt the U.S. is trying to sell.
No buyers. None. Zero.
While Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tells Congress we’re in an “illiquid period,” doubles then triples long-bond buybacks, taps the General Treasury Account to fund it and openly says “I am the house.”
Yields are surging anyway. The 10-year has pushed toward 5.3% and the 30-year is even higher, levels not seen in years while Japan, one of the biggest foreign holders, keeps selling Treasuries and bringing money home.
This was exactly warned by Japan’s @yutokanzakireal that the measures being prepared by Bank of Japan will affect the lives of billions of people and apologized to people of the West.
Soon after, Scott Bessent intervened and effectively took over BoJ operations which Japanese policymakers heavily criticized.
If the same ”bidless” condition hits the short-dated treasuries market, the entire U.S. debt market (and global) collapses.
The U.S. debt crisis will turn into a global liquidity crisis.
Paul Graham once said:
"Writing is thinking. In fact there's a kind of thinking that can only be done by writing."
Writing by hand is the closest you get to seeing your thoughts on paper. My favourite handwriting exercise is to pick something important and keep asking yourself two questions:
- What XYZ?
- How XYZ?
Both are open-ended, which expands your thinking. For example, you want to start a new business. you can ask:
- what is scaring me about this?
- what could stop me from succeeding?
- how can i minimize the risk of failure?
- how can i get started in the next 10 days?
etc.
I write by hand every morning for 10-20 minutes. Occasionally set aside an hour for deeper thinking.
The degeneration of Nature, Science, NEJM, and Scientific American into woke propaganda dispensers (and their refusal to publish normie, centrist, common-sense responses) is a scientific scandal.
Identity diversification simply means cultivating multiple, independent areas of growth in your life where you can chart progress.
This is engineered so that your self-worth isn’t entirely dependent on one thing, such as the regular ups and downs of your own startup.
Being overinvested gets a lot of media play and X threads, but there’s a nasty survivorship bias at work. I’ve seen dozens of founders implode because their “startup as self-worth” metrics went sideways for a few months.
I prefer an approach with more margin of safety, and it’s entirely compatible with domain mastery.
For instance, you could very well spend 40 to 80 hours per week on your startup, but if you supplement that with indoor rock climbing, weight training, chess club, or something else that has its own metrics for growth, even if new regulations or a competitor tank your startup for a short stretch, you can still offset the blow with progress outside of the office.
It’s cheap psychological insurance.
I think of identity diversification as a huge competitive advantage in games that depend on endurance. At the highest levels, that’s pretty much everything.

“The FBI had identified 187 Mossad agents in the U.S., not declared to the US government.
We give them 99% of our defense secrets.
They're here to steal the last 1%..

You might have seen, as you scrolled through X, some crazy posts claiming that Netanyahu "disappeared" or "died."
All of this stems from a Netanyahu video people claim is AI-generated and from his notable absence at a recent televised Israeli security briefing.
Please hold on, because according to his office, it's all BS.
Their answer? "Fake news. The PM is fine."
Meanwhile, same rumors swirling about Iran's new Supreme Leader.
Vance says he's hurt but alive "in some form."
At this point the internet has no idea who's alive, who's injured, and who's getting the Weekend at Bernie's treatment.

Going Founder Mode On Cancer
https://t.co/vAqXIV5zvE
Sid Sijbrandij is a generational founder. He founded and led GitLab, one of the largest remote companies in the world, from idea-stage startup to NASDAQ-listed software giant.
But in 2022, a six centimeter mass growing from his upper spine threatened to end all of that. He had cancer.
What happened next is nothing short of remarkable. Sid went founder mode on his care journey. In the years since, he's deployed cutting-edge genomics to profile his disease. Based on this data, he's developed a growing armamentarium of personalized therapies.
As a result, his disease is now undetectable.
A simplistic version of this story could be, “Wow! A brilliant billionaire seemingly cured his cancer. Good for him!”
But as I’ve gotten to know Sid, it’s become abundantly clear to me that there is more to the story than that.
In an in-depth profile for The Century of Biology, I explore Sid's journey and what this might mean for the future of cancer care.
