Retiring Chair of UNC Biostatistics, Lisa LaVange (@LavangeLisa), and UNC Biostatistics (@uncbiostat) Alumnus, Ben Saville, presented a short course at the ASA Biopharmaceutical (@ASABiopharm) Section's Regulatory Industry Statistics Workshop (RISW) last week #ASABiopharm
Great example of an adaptive trial design with population enrichment. The trial enrolled ICH patients in both Lobar and ABG regions, and the adaptive algorithm enriched to the Lobar location early. Significant primary analysis and first RCT to show benefit of MIPS!
In the #ENRICH#trial, 300 #ICH patients were randomised to minimally invasive surgery vs. medical care <24h after onset
Today @ #ESOC2023 the results are presented👇
The 1st #RCT in #ICH to show a positive effect of early minimal invasive surgery on functional outcome @ 6M 👏

Tyler Saville has earned the @AthleticsBCMS Iron Man Award. Tyler kept getting better and better throughout the year. To see his confidence grow this year has been amazing. Way to out work the competition all year Tyler! @BcmsRaiders
This Friday in #COVID19 Grand Rounds, we welcome Dr. Chris Butler of @OxPrimaryCare and Dr. Ben Saville of @BerryConsultant to learn about PRINCIPLE, an adaptive platform trial for community treatment of COVID-19. Join us! #pctGR ⤵️ https://t.co/AANzPdlwqF
@DrToddLee@ABsteward@DrEmilyMcD Yes we used non-contemporaneous controls in the primary analysis of Budesonide, with methodology to account for temporal trends. The pre-print is available online. A sensitivity analysis was conducted using concurrently randomized controls, and results were essentially the same
BREAKING NEWS: PRINCIPLE trial reports the corticosteroid budesonide is the first widely available, inexpensive drug found to shorten recovery time in non-hospitalised patients with COVID-19. It is now available in UK #primarycare on a case-by-case basis.

. @iHrithik You tweeted my first post on #Coronavirus. Thank you. You massively contributed to spread the message.
I have a new article to help governments know what decisions to make:

It makes it clear that the only viable option is Suppression.
@KertViele @RogerJLewis @JasonConnorPhD Thanks. This was a really cool design, though we never enrolled the 3rd arm that would have activated the response adaptive randomization. The Bayesian primary analysis model was key to understanding the oseltamivir benefit (both overall and in the pre-specified subgroups).
