Kavach is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection System, with trials starting only after 2014.

Kavach effectively prevents head-on collisions when trains are on the same track. However, in the mentioned accident, derailed coaches fell onto the track and were subsequently struck by another train. It is important to note that Kavach functions only when both the locomotives and the track are equipped with the necessary technology.

Kavach complies with SIL-4, the highest level of safety certification, and this accident is not related to any failure of the Kavach system.

Furthermore, Kavach has already been deployed on over 1,098 route kilometers and 65 locomotives as part of ongoing projects by the South Central Railway. Therefore, the accident in Odisha is irrelevant to any Kavach failure.

The system is currently being implemented on the Bidar-Parli Vaijnath-Parbhani and Manmad-Parbhani-Nanded-Secunderabad-Gadwal-Dhone-Guntakal sections.

During the Kavach trials, the Railway Minister himself risked his life, and important routes like Delhi-Howrah will soon be equipped with Kavach technology.

And as I said earlier, using the deaths of Hundreds of people for Political gains is not something a Human being should endorse, will hope the Oppositions will show respect to those who lost their lives.
