The Steam Tug Challenge was at Dunkirk in 1940, she is the last steam tug to work on the Thames. With your help we can keep her for future generations.
After a long spell when nothing appears to have happened, a lot has been happening in the background. She is to return to the Thames under new ownership. Trinity Buoy Wharf will be the new owners and she will be prepared for the delivery over the nxt few weeks.
These are pictures of Challenges sister ship, Contest waiting to be scrapped, I'm afraid that if the rumours are correct Challenge could suffer the same fate. The plan to move her to London appears to have failed. I will keep you posted on any developments.
A crying shame. Boats give us so much, it's only right we give back to them. Perhaps @Marstal_Museum where she was built could help? I served on a similar vessel in 1969 - changed my life too!
