Massive well done to the Year 6 students of St Colmcille’s Primary School, Ballymena (@stcolmcilleps) who recently cleared the board to become Overall Northern Ireland Champions in the LEGO League Competition.
Led by their teacher Miss Niamh McKinley (who herself won a well-deserved award), they travelled yesterday to Dublin to the All-Ireland Finals where they beat stiff competition from 24 secondary schools represented, to be awarded All-Ireland winners for best Innovation Project!
Congratulations to Miss McKinley and students - Maximilian, Annie, Ella, [and] Ella, Delia, Gabrielle, Caleb, Connor, Alex, and Olivia!

Democracy Week 2024 - Children's Author Election Count
#DemocracyWeek2024 included an election for the Top Children's Author in Mid & East Antrim.
The election count took place the the Mid & East Antrim Borough Council Headquarters at The Braid in Ballymena.
The @FLLUK team were delighted to have the opportunity to visit Ballymena Northern Regional College to meet the lecturers and students. They showcased their project and got some help debugging their code.
The Lego Challenge Team were delighted to receive sponsorship from @CountryBMW and @ApeerDoors for their Masterpiece Challenge. The pupils alongside their teacher Miss McKinley have been working hard to solve the different missions.
Thank you to local businesses, Orthoplus, Milano’s and K&G McAtamney for their generous sponsorship of our @FLLUK team. The pupils are currently preparing their Masterpiece Challenge for the tournament in March.
The School Councils were delighted to present a cheque for £1,135 to Mrs Rosemary Simpson from Ballymena @SVP_Ireland to support their Christmas appeal. The money was collected during the school nativity plays.
Thank you to the amazing @donna_galas and @nerve_centre for developing coding and computational thinking within our school over the past 18 months. The school partnership programme has been invaluable to pupils and teachers alike.
Year 4 had an amazing morning as musical detectives as part of the @UlsterOrchestra primary school concert tour. They really enjoyed hearing the orchestra ‘live and loud’ and joining in with the songs. 🎶🕵️♀️🕵️♂️🎵
