We, the Red River Métis, believe that attempting to categorize all individuals of mixed race as Métis is a form of cultural erasure.
For those who have identified as Métis their entire lives and held fast to our culture, it's deeply troubling to see our identities being overshadowed by those from outside the homeland with distant connections.
It seems that the only feasible course of action is to return to the original governance structure, which Canada is treaty-bound to uphold.
The Red River Métis Government is the only sovereign Métis nation and holds the legal rights in this matter. Recognizing other jurisdictions poses a challenge as it threatens our nation's sovereignty.
In essence, these organizations are colonial constructs, their legitimacy not stemming from the original source of authority - the Provisional Government.
Ultimately, there should be no Act and no legislation dividing us. We stand united as the Red River Métis people, undivided by anyone.
MÉTIS ≠ MIXED

“The decision to safeguard wild salmon is a very clear measure for food security for First Nations across the province,” says Bob Chamberlin, Chair – FNWSA.
@1Bob_Chamberlin@nationalpost@JoyceMurray Are those FNs supporting open net pen fish farms prepared to compensate Stolo communities?
My community alone would require a minimum of $40,000,000 annually for loss of protein alone. For cultural and spiritual impact it may be up to $80,000,000 for each year with no fish.

@janetmarieroger Not sure what context you are speaking to? To not recognize the land you are on if you don't have an ancient relation to that land is rather colonial I would say.
In some acknowledgements folks are challenged to name a local leader/community as a learning piece

@NeetuGarcha FYI there are initiatives underway working to build key articles of UNDRIP into energy projects. Take a look at the Canada Energy Regulator's Indigenous Advisory Committee.
At a project specific level the IAMC-TMX is engaged similarly
