Cool way of looking at London. This map shows part of the River Thames and London surroundings using 50cm DSM Lidar data. Source: https://t.co/SeeLaAuuBx
Scenes from the episode of lava fountaining at #Etna's Southeast Crater early on 19 May 2021, seen from home in Tremestieri Etneo (20 km south of the summit). Real sound, every now and then you can hear the rumbling of the volcano between the birds chirping and singing.
Not so good news: classrooms are currently drying out, after we got a bit overwhelmed by water volume. Huge thanks, as ever, to @StDunsBursar and her amazing team for getting us dried out and back to understanding these things, rather than experiencing them...

Good news: studying Geography helps you understand amazing events like last night's microburst hailstorm, with deep (heh!) knowledge of things like saturation and overland flow and their influence on water (https://t.co/LJeSRoL9TG)

Here's something we've not seen for a while, a deep area of low pressure bringing useful but perhaps rather ill-timed rain to many places this #BankHolidayMonday
Also, we've had a gust of 76 mph at Capel Curig in North Wales 💨
It looks like this will go down as the coldest early May Bank Holiday on record with a top temperature of just 14C in a few spots in southeast England. Nick

After the effects of Iceland, and the worries over Etna, the World Volcano Council has decided that they need to take further action. As part of the Paris Agreement, it's been decided that from this morning, volcanoes are to be switched off. Any existing eruptions may continue.
Love this Reindeer cyclone in the Arctic Circle but it stupidly bothers me they're not swirling the other way round as a N hemisphere cyclone should. This is a reindeer anticyclone.
I'll get my coat. 😂
If you live in the south of the UK you maybe wondering why the sky has a strange hue this morning
This is #SaharanDust which can even be seen of the latest visible satellite picture
