All right I'm cooking one already. Here's a preview of The Bridge:
Disclaimer these are song lyrics I'm not making threats
[Bridge: Manic gloating]
I tampered with the goblet of fire,
To achieve my heartโs truest desire,
Soon the boy who lived will draw his last beath
Heโll feel the sting of my curse of death
[Pitch and tempo rise]
I canโt wait I canโt wait I just canโt wait
To make the boy cry and to seal his fate!
@shadmbrooks And now Voldemort needs his very own villain song. Something with venomous charm you know like a Jafar or a scar But devolving into mad psychosis like Ursula
That's another good point that I didn't think about. Until that scene most of the curses have been silly little things. It's like JK Rowling decided to push the Cerebus button on Harry. Oh boy did that ever work
@LynkFormer Harry (and the audience) have been conditioned to believe that only the unforgivable curses are truly dangerous. Everything else is temporary, like Stupefy. It makes sense that Harry, in the heat of the moment, would use a spell without realizing how dangerous that spell was.

Yearn for a brighter future my friends, this one is for you

See that's the difference between us and them. We can see something that makes us uncomfortable and endure it. They run away scared, and then complain about it endlessly
It's like they can't stomach the idea of their hero making a really bad mistake. I don't like the idea of Harry hurting a girl either but I can endure it. Sometimes you just have to take that gut punch for what it is and then when they finally kiss at the end you get that catharsis if that's the right term
I don't think people are being honest with themselves with the whole SectumSempra thing...
Making the argument "But what if Harry practiced or learned what the spell did beforehand", or arguing that they should be lovers at that point, or arguing that Malfoid's actions wouldn't have an impact on Harry's choice of use because she's a girl and a girl he cares about....
You're all just looking for reasons and excuses not to put it in because you prefer him not to hurt the one he loves.
You are fabricating reasons to avoid having it, justifying that fabrication with "Its fanfiction, we can do what we want."
You can. Absolutely, you can. You can also ruin a story by not adhering to the needs of the narrative, or diminish it from what it could be.
Kind of like making Malfoid male did, just because Jo wanted to distance her schoolyard bully from herself. Kind of like how she denied Draco's redemption out of spite for her own childhood bully.
You can certainly do that, and you'd be following your personal impulse in doing so. And in doing so, would rob the story of one of its most pivotal, weighty, emotional moments.
And one of the moments which most people universally agreed with as being NECESSARY for their romantic climax.
So yes. You can write that, and there's nothing anyone can do to stop you. Go right ahead.
Very well said. What's even worse is you get those legalists who make up rules that aren't even in the Bible and claim that you need to follow those particular rules in order to be saved. They'll throw a citation at you, and they won't even bother to try and explain how it actually applies. They won't come because they can't, because there is no actual biblical basis for what they're saying. They just expect you to accept that the passage they're quoting agrees with what they are trying to convince you of.
You donโt have to earn Godโs love by being perfect. ๐ฉท
Titus 3:5 reminds us that weโre saved not because of what weโve done, but because of His mercy.
You can come to God messy, struggling, and still growing. His grace isnโt a reward for getting everything right. Itโs a gift. โจ
Wait, wait, guys guys! The fact that y'all have started debating about this means that malfoid is even bigger then we thought! It's gotten so big that people are starting to have diverse opinions about it!
This is awesome news!!!!
Fairytales are true not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be defeated.
And harming a loved by doing something stupid is a lot more common than dragons.
The high horse moral outrage on sectumsempra is just "DnD is satanic 2.0" by now.
Oh you know how it is. Currently working on the fourth book I have written in the past year. It's the fourth book in a series I've been barking up and down about it lately trying to get more people to check it out because I think they'd like it
@HariSel57511397 what's your writing journey been brother? I started out writing a goddamn touhou CYOA and I somehow ended up here. You seem to have done a lot more and done it a lot faster. read me the deep lore broski
To say the obvious, Malfoid is not even, properly speaking, a genderbent character.
There is not really a strong meaningful sense that Malfoid necessarily is "DRACO MALFOY, but a girl."
Rather the idea is much more like "What if Malfoy heir was a born a girl, not a boy."
She isn't Draco. She was never Draco. She does fill Draco's "place" in the story, but only to an extent.
Dracaena, Draconia, Dracina, whatever you like. The point is she is an entirely different character from Draco Malfoy.
This seems important, because the "gender swap" isn't the point. It's merely the one necessary "what if?" that starts knocking over the dominoes.
