New Claude dropped, first reaction: I donโt know how to read this. The numbers measure the model, not my output with it. What do these numbers mean for me? How much faster can I work? ๐
Introducing Claude Opus 4.8: it builds on Opus 4.7 with sharper judgment, more honesty about its own progress, and the ability to work independently for longer than its predecessors.
Available today at the same price.
At Stripe Sessions, Sam Altman (@sama) made the case for the "idea guys." Knowing what to build, and for whom, is now the scarce part. Building got cheaper (for now). This is the generalist era, and I'm all in.
The traumatized child in me has finally been vindicated with FlavorGraph from @KAIKAKU_AI.
Got reported to the teacher as a kid for dipping my ham in chocolate. Turns out the flavor compounds pair up fine.
What it taught me: AI hid it until I tried to build something real.
Next build: Claude Code, QA agent built from this project and trained to keep learning, git from day one. AI still writes most of the code. I won't pretend the rest of the job went away.
The steps caught up. $183 of refunds went missing in one import because credits come in unticked by default. 3000 lines in a single file, no git, no tests.
Follow-up to the handoff-file post.
You do not NEED two tools. Just two commands in Claude Code.
One opens a thinking session, no agentic nothing. One closes it and you go back to coding.
I have a job I did not apply for. I am my Claude's COO.
Chat thinks, Code builds, neither remembers the other. So I did. Carrying context back and forth by hand.
I gave them one file to share instead. The tools do not share memory (yet @AnthropicAI?). I do.
Pulled out my mechanical keyboard for the first time in 5 years to try Claude Code.
Same terminal. Same girl. New era.
The chat is where you think. The terminal is where you build. That gap is closing fast.
@cprkrn@AnthropicAI@DarioAmodei I have a memory of receiving 1BTC at a hackathon 13 years ago, and just.. poof, no idea what I did with that pen drive. Or maybe it was a dream, I just can't remember.
Puscifer doesn't allow phones during the show.
I danced the entire time, hands-free. Watched through my eyes instead of through my screen.
I didn't know I'd forgotten how to do that. ๐ค
I treated AI like a search bar for months. Open, copy paste, close.
Then I joined a pottery studio. Six weeks making a ceramic necklace. Broken and remade four times.
Clay doesn't work on demand. Neither does AI. It's a material. And I'm learning what it's made of.
Iโm positive that Whole Foods studies my shopping habits and purposefully discontinues everything I buy to see if I will go with their 365 brand or not. So now I touch random stuff while shopping just to confuse them.
