Steel Front is an initiative by Ukrainian businessman and philanthropist Rinat Akhmetov to support Ukraine's defense efforts during the conflict with Russia
The first @GLOBSEC 2026 panel featuring Metinvest CEO Yuriy Ryzhenkov alongside NATO representatives and senior Polish military leadership has already taken place.
The discussion focused on how Europe can learn from Ukraine’s wartime experience: the speed of decision-making, the ability of industry to adapt to frontline needs, and how governments and businesses can operate under constant threat.
Particular attention was paid to the role of industry in modern warfare and to how Ukraine managed to turn civilian production capacities into part of its defence ecosystem.

"Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front" is a silver partner of @GLOBSEC 2026.
This is not just a logo on a banner. This is an opportunity for Ukrainian business to sit at the same table with defense ministers, top executives of European corporations, and architects of the alliance's defense policy – and to speak as equals.
Our topic: how private heavy industry is becoming part of the defense ecosystem. Not in theory. In practice. With numbers and ready-made solutions. All of this is necessary for Europe today.

In three days, Prague will become the main platform for discussions on European defense.

We are heading there not as observers – but as bearers of experience that no one else possesses.
Four years of war. Four years of industrial restructuring. Dozens of solutions that were developed under shelling and are now saving lives on the frontline.
We will soon share who will be speaking and about what.
Dear journalists, see you in Prague on May 21-23.

@DTEK_Group has provided free electricity to more than 100 critical infrastructure facilities and restored power to 26 million homes.
“Heart of Azovstal” supports the defenders of Mariupol, from medical treatment to housing.
@FCShakhtar_eng assists soldiers with treatment and rehabilitation.
EW systems are one of the most critical technologies on the front today. We are proud to support the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine "Azov."
Extremely proud to support the 1st Corps of the NSU Azov.
In 2025, Rinat Akhmetov's "Steel Front" (Metsinvest) provided 600 million UAH ($13.8 million) in aid.
214 million UAH ($4.9 million) of that went toward drones – a vital necessity on the front lines.
The remainder was spent on EW, communications, and other essential gear.
We stand with Ukraine's defenders🇺🇦
Spanish El País was impressed by the underground shelter-hospital built by Akhmetov’s Steel Front.
The report describes how the clinic, located 7 meters underground, withstood a strike by three guided bombs. The hospital operates 24/7 and can receive up to 150 wounded soldiers per day.
Journalists note that most injuries now come from drones, and the facility itself is described as “a fortress made of wooden beams, 350 m² in size, with 7 exits and water drawn from a 37-meter-deep well.” https://t.co/XPlVRPWOe7
Metinvest, as part of Rinat Akhmetov's Steel Front, has built Ukraine's 1st underground training hub for the military. 🛡️ It's a modular steel shelter, built in just 1.5 months. It allows 70+ soldiers to train continuously, even during air raids.
