Some long term solutions - remove mayoral control of DOE. And chancellor should be an elected position with min requirement of 10 years as classroom teacher and 10 years as administrator. Not a mayoral appointee.

Does that take care of all? No - but relying on unreliable at-home tests to be performed correctly from students I can’t even get permission slips back from is beyond ridiculous. These are tests that require molecular accuracy.

As NYCDOE teacher in MS/HS exposed to Covid case after Covid case, here is what I believe are some short term solutions to keep schools open AND provide bare minimum safety to students and staff: require min 5 day quarantine to anyone exposed
