I wonder how many people attacking Queen Best have ever lost a son, let alone a son who was also a King, with a succession dispute starting before his body was even laid to rest.
If she had brought the grandson, you’d say she was rushing to install another king because she’s hungry for power. She says let me first mourn my son, and now you’re demanding to know why she didn’t bring him.
You want the child, you want the mother, you want explanations, photographs, timelines and proof. But not once do you ask yourselves how you would handle this if it were your own family. Question the succession all you want but stop acting as though losing a son becomes easier because he wore a crown, or that being a Queen Mother means she stopped being a mother.
When the great tree falls, do not immediately watch the branches.
Watch the people who once sat beneath its shade.
Some will mourn the tree. Others will measure the timber.
The birds that built their nests there will suddenly find another tree. The hands that were fed by its fruit will forget who planted it. Old grudges will emerge from the forest, dressed as tradition, duty and concern.
And while everyone argues over what belonged to the tree, look for the woman sitting quietly beside its roots.
She remembers when it was only a seed.
She watered it before it gave shade. Protected it before it bore fruit. Stood beside it through every storm. She loved it when there was absolutely nothing to inherit.
Yet when the tree falls, even she may discover that those who once bowed before its branches have no difficulty stepping over its roots.
That is the cruel lesson of death:
Some people loved the tree.
Others only loved the shade.
Time eventually tells the difference.
I have watched you walk through some of the hardest battles, face opposition from people who wanted to see you fall, and carry burdens that many would never have had the strength to endure. Yet through it all, you have continued to stand.
What inspires me most about you is not simply that you have won these battles, but the courage, grace, and strength with which you have faced them. Every storm has revealed something greater in you. Every attempt to break you has only made you stronger.
You have defied the odds in ways that few people will ever understand. You have endured when it would have been easier to give up, remained strong when others expected you to crumble, and kept moving forward when the road ahead seemed uncertain.
Today, I simply want to appreciate you. Your strength is remarkable, your resilience is inspiring, and your journey is a testimony that no matter how many battles are placed before you, you can rise above them.
May God continue to give you strength, wisdom, and peace. You have come too far to be defined by the battles you faced you are defined by the fact that you overcame them. ❤️
My report says the Queen Mother just said what Team Baby Oyo needed to hear.
“His mother is still here, his sister is still here, his son is still here, his people are still here, and God is still with us.”
