It's an interesting element to study in part because its multivalent, capable of forming many different complexes depending on valence state. We also looked at the effect of other solutes like U and water contaminants. I think it's neat.

Our latest paper predicts complexes that Mo may form in FLiNaK molten salt.

Mo-99 is generated in molten salt reactors, and understanding its chemical behavior may help us extract it so that its product, Te-99, can be used in medical imaging. https://t.co/ZxEf6pASnT

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: Consistent with the CES guidelines issued last night, Brigham Young University has made the following decisions. Classes on March 13, 16 & 17 are canceled. All courses at BYU & its Salt Lake Center, will resume March 18 through remote instruction.

Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and is responsible for about a quarter of the warming we have experienced to-date. Reducing methane emissions is an important part of climate mitigation. Its also important to understand that methane is very different from CO2.

@gravity_levity A habit I try to train out of my freshman (and sophomore!) engineering students is plugging numbers into an equation *before* solving algebraically. It makes my brain itch to look at, but more importantly neither of us can tell by just looking what they actually did.

A huge fraction of the problems that intro-level college physics students have can be attributed to impatience.
Students approach a problem as if they will be able to write down the answer in just a couple lines, rather than making necessary preparations for a prolonged battle.
