We are pleased to announce our latest paper, out today in nature communications biology. @ErikMurchie @IanRASmillie#photosynthesis#PsbSisawesome https://t.co/Q8IxshDNbF Enhanced thylakoid photoprotection can increase yield and canopy radiation use efficiency in rice
She got zero points.
But we're not allowed to criticize her because it makes her cry. Perhaps if her family and friends had been honest with her, she would not have globally humiliated herself.
Enjoying, yet slightly surreal to be back at my old stomping ground at the University of Sheffield after leaving over 20 years ago for a really interesting symposium on tackling global challenges in plant and soil sciences! @plantspplplanet
@LizCh@parkrun@parkrunDE I love the community aspect too. Keeps you going! We have a lovely one near me at a place called conkers, but currently on holiday in Cornwall and nearly did the one at the Eden project this weekend - you have to when you are a plant scientist ๐ but the rain was torrential!!
@LizCh@parkrun@parkrunDE Thatโs an amazing time, well done! Iโm 9 park runs in now as Iโve just started doing them and you are right, you feel so much better after. I donโt think I will ever get 20:11, but already I am down from 39 to 34:40! ๐ช๐
This years cohort of MSc Biotechnology (plant stream) students thoroughly enjoyed our trip to @KWSUKLtd yesterday to learn all about wheat pre-breeding and hybrid wheat in an industrial setting. Thanks to @CJohn_Bejai and @nickbird28 for hosting us. @UoNBiosciences
The year has gone fast! Looking forward to another year of talks on wheat and other cereals ๐พ this year hosted by Rothamsted research institute. #monogram24
A wonderful day with the @UoNBiosciences MSc Biotechnology plant option students visiting @Elsomsseeds. We had a fascinating time learning all about seed production and plant breeding. Many thanks to @RichTheBreeder, Mark Nightingale and all the team who showed us around.
@marcusjb I know. Itโs horrific what the locals have lost and are going through. Those privileged enough to afford a holiday should have some sympathy and realise the beautiful island of Rhodes, built on tourism does not need this from the media. ๐
Super proud of @the_jake_hill presenting his poster at the pgr symposium on increasing the diversity of wheat through the wild relative Ae. umbellulata. A lot of crossing has gone into this! ๐พ @UoNBiosciences@Notts_WRC
We are excited to announce our final round of recruitment this year with spaces available on both our Standard and CASE programmes.
Open to home candidates only.

Deadline is 12 noon 25 July 2023.
Love the wild hedgeโs growing outside our glasshouses at work. Makes the glasshouse slightly more bearable in the heat whilst crossing!! ๐พ ๐ฅต ๐ธ @Notts_WRC
Really enjoying the @nature masterclasses on scientific writing and publishing here at Nottingham University. Inspiring to be at the department of Physics next to Einsteins blackboard! @UoNBiosciences#naturemasterclasses
With harvest underway in Cd. Obregon itโs also approaching in the El Batan screenhouse. New pre-breeding crosses with wild wheat introgression lines developed by @Notts_WRC@UKFutureWheat in progress capturing new sources of diversity for biotic and abiotic stress response ๐พ
Really nice talk by @NikkiW_Hortic at the @nottm_bbsrc_dtp spring conference 23. The genetic uniformity of wheat (uniform like stormtroopers!) needs new genetic diversity. By breaking the gametocidal gene, can we get this from Aegilops sharonensis? @Notts_WRC@SurbhiG6
