Earlier today, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Maria Corina Machado, leader of the democracy movement in Venezuela.

The peace prize has been awarded to 140 laureates, of which 112 are individuals and 28 are organisations.

Susumu Kitagawa, Richard Robson and Omar Yaghi were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry today, bringing the total number of chemistry laureates to 198. Only two people have been awarded the prize twice – Frederick Sanger and Barry Sharpless.
