@turbomander It's insane that if u go to Worldbuilding forums u can find many amateur writers racking their brains trying to use industrial software like GPlates, Exoplasim, etc. to create hyperrealistic geoclimatic maps, while fantasy novels that gain traction pull slop like that
@fangboy_xxx linguistics provides a great applied example of why epistemic privilege is a problem: native, fluent speakers of languages are oftentimes very bad at actually describing them formally and analytically
There's a lady in here who's really fucking upset because she has one of those spammy recipe websites and was making like $300,000 a year and now since LLMs users can access recipes directly she's not making squat. Apparently she didn't have any readership loyalty at all.
The vegan ube ice cream discourse is all the proof I need that no one even reads a tweet they react off the vibes they feel from the tweet regardless of whether that’s what is happening and if you point out they’ve misunderstood they become embarrassed and decide to double down

I suppose this doesn't apply to real-life communication for english speakers bc prosodic markers are used for rhetorical questions instead, hence the confusion when switching from offline to online communication for many
@SashazDollz As a non-native english speaker, one thing i’ve noticed lately in online communication is that when someone doesn’t do the auxiliary verb inversion in a question, they’re not being genuine, i think.
“Are X not Y too?” - genuine question
“X are not Y too?” - possibly rhetorical
